Minecraft Name: avowin Suggestion: a command called /drop Reason: this could be used for many things. The reason I thought of this is I am stuck on minechat (and others on vacation might be using it too) and cannot do anything but talk. Why not let players be able to do more with trusted players by trading items? Let's say you are giving someone 5 nstars. The command could be used like /sell. So /drop nstar 5 would drop 5 nstars in your inventory This can also be used to collect evidence of dropping an item so if something goes wrong you have that ready (a message would pop up about what you drop) Any Other Information: maybe it can be used for people who don't want to go into their inventory for everything, so they use /drop? Please comment/rate this idea! I want feedback Link To This Plugin: N/A just a thought
Not for minechat, but I think this would be helpful for collecting evidence, maybe provide a message such as "You just dropped a(n) (Item name)"
*facepalm* I meant to add that too. I had it the first time but I redid this thread to follow the format... think I might add that to ^
I'm on the edge about this idea, but, I think that if it were hypothetically implemented the message should have a short local range (5-10 blocks). So, if I'm standing next to Avowin, and do /drop 5 nstar, Avowin will also see the confirmation message, so that the evidence that I've done so is on their screen as well for the purpose of evidence collection and so it would also be in their screenshots that I did infact use the command. It would be even more helpful if a similar message existed for who picked up those 5 nstars, but logistically I'm not sure if that one's possible. Just my two cents on this, because for evidence collection purposes it's not a bad idea, but like many suggestions there are flaws to it or could be flaws in implementation.
I see what you mean skylexia. I think the message should be added for 5-10 blocks range. Thank you for your input!
It would be just like dropping an item normally, like dragging it out of the item menu or preelssing Q (or whatecer your preset throw button is)
I would rather see something where you could send something directly to someone's inventory. This could possibly be unfair for players with tp so maybe make it so that you could only send an item to a player within 10 meters from you. I mainly want this so that evidence could be screenshotted when making a trade.
I actually suggested that. Id post a link, but I think it might get people to post on it and necro it since its old
The biggest issue with drop trades wasn't verifying the fact that the user dropped the agreed upon amount (i.e. 6 nstars) but rather that someone could just pick it up nonchalantly and walk away. Anything dropped is considered "free" and anyone can take it. If you're on vacation, I'd suggest just leaving the nstars in your inventory and not try to engage in a drop trade. Also using minechat brings some other interesting issues like the fact that you cannot see where you are. So if you teleport to a location designated by yourself, a drop trade might work out but if they dictate the area and teleport you in an place where they kill you, you're out of your nstars, experience, armor/items, etc. The next issue that arises is that you can't prove you agreed on the trade since minechat screenshots aren't considered evidence. If the reasoning for a "/drop" is to encourage drop trades, I don't agree with the suggestion then. I'm heavily against drop trades because personally, I've had bad experiences with them. Use a chest, lock it with both players, or use a trade sign. It's much safer - trade sign being my favorite way to trade items.
That's why I said players you trust. Like for me (not being mean to anyone) a few of the players I trust indefinitely (that aren't high end mods) are falconand cracker.
I forgot to mention the possibility of butcher occurring soon after dropping. I just don't think we should encourage players to drop trade at all. There are too many negatives to justify taking unnecessary risk.
I'd rather a trade command and quite a number of people have suggested it (at least in the past two months that I've seen) but I still wouldn't choose to do drop trades. A "/drop" command is just a stop-gap measure for when you're unable to play and can only use minechat. It is not a command that helps trading, it just can cause more complications - especially for the party selling the item. Even in your case you suggested that you'd only trade with trusted players but what about the rest of ECC? Someone could just as easily just start trade messages and drop the item when at the trade location, unable to take evidence. Additionally other things could go wrong like what if you drop the item and it falls into a "lava feature" someone made. To circumvent that, the player would have to tell the other that they're on minechat which if the other player is informed about evidence collection rules, they could easily take advantage of that player. The idea to have it send a command to output a string so it can be logged is good but you still can't provide evidence that the dropped items was destroyed or picked up by another player.
