Hey everyone. Today is probably one of my worst ECC days I have ever had. I was scammed 110k to a donation scammer that I will remain anonymous (look in the complaints/ban appeals section if you really want to know who) who also scammed 10 people I assume. I really hate having to go through this which is why I want to talk to you guys about this. I don't want ANYONE to go through this EVER again. Here is what I learned that will hopefully help you guys. 1. Don't trust based on their personality. Base it off of the ranks, [$$$], and medals. I made this mistake. This user was very kind to everyone so I assumed s/he was going to be a good user. I thought s/he was a donator, so I thought "Hey, s/he makes a great candidate!". I should have noticed that one, this user wasn't a donator, two, was banned multiple times, and three, was a low rank. If I were to recommend someone, go here and find a user that is [$$]+, a mayor+, and has no ban history. 2. Don't buy if the price is too good to be true. Odds are, you are NOT going to find a donation feature lower than 5k per USD. Anything lower must be too good to be true. As of today, the general price for donation features include 5.5k-6k per USD. Anything lower is too scam like. 3. Go by Andrew's Word - IRL money is the safest Andrew usually says that donating something IRL is 100% guaranteeing that you will get your feature. Paying in-game money is a risk that is very scary. I learned this the hard way. 4. If you do take this approach, TAKE SCREENSHOTS OF EVERYTHING. Screenshots are the only thing that proves that this user scammed you. If you are scammed, report immediately to help others and get the user banned. Contracts are also a great idea for getting the user banned and making sure that the user gives you the donation feature. If you guys have anymore suggestions, I will try to include it here. Before agreeing to anything, do a forum search for the person's username. Look for complaints about them or ban appeals by them. Look at their posts to see if they seem mature or if they are frequently getting into disagreements with others. Make a contract and take screenshots of: 1 terms of the deal 2 them agreeing 3 payment being made 4 a timestamp Preferably get this all in one screenshot. Leave all chat channels before starting negotiations so it is easy to screenshot. Take two screenshots so the second will have the timestamp. Get them banned if they scam. You'll feel a little better and it discourages others.
Personally, No matter how tempting the deal may sound, Always double check. What you can do is check how much the user has donated in the past and or look the player up to see if any forms of donation scams have happened in the past. If something seems odd, please just move to a new person who may be more expensive but is 100% legit. There are always people like Kmaxwell, WiKiDOne, btsr7414, videowiz92, etc. Users who are well known might not always scam although there are always times where they can change. Who i've listed are proven to be 100% legit. This is just for future donations and such.
Yeah, I see what you mean. As long as the user fits the other requirements, then I assume it is a legit deal.
Here are my suggestions: User has [$$$]+, is the rank of President, has no previous complaints for scamming, has donated for others. This is what I do when purchasing donations.
So you wouldn't trust someone like me? That's what makes things tough, I look at the popularity of player, how long the player has been playing and rank with at least $$+
That is my viewpoint on it, have I purchased from a mayor in the past yes, however I feel safe/have a habbit of buying from presidents+
My rule (in the past) was buy from Tycoons/Ecoleaders since they invested so much in the future. I've never bought from a mayor before, so I haven't tried...
Screenshoting doesn't help, even if their are banned you dot get your money back. I've been scammed over 55k of donations from when I started on ecocitycraft and all the felons are banned but I still lost my money.
I agree I lost 60k don't trust anyone on ECC really if you know the person in real life good because if they scam you walk up to them... 3 seconds later there in the hospital.
I buy donations for people all the time. There was a point where I was worried that my credit card was almost maxed. So I stopped. I was worried that it wouldn't go through. But I was donating when I was a builder with no $ signs to my name. It all depends on who your buying from. I donated to lots of people, most of whom have forgotten me by now. There is a section where you can find referrals of people who donated, so you have a better idea of who to got to get a donation from. That's a good tip, and anybody buying a donation should use that section. There are always rick in using RL transactions. I now only sell if the price is right.

You should not buy donation features for people who have donated less then $50 and are not mayor plus or less then 6k/usd.
