Hahaha I'm actually laughing with this question... I remember it was kind of a big deal when I was in school (now i'm in college). 1 strap guys were "cool" and 2 straps were just normal (no negative connotation, at least not where I'm from). Once you get to college you'll notice that nobody cares about looking cool and everyone uses it with 2 straps
2 strap: Used when walking into/out of school. Basically whenever I have it on for over 30 seconds. 1 strap: Used when walking from class to my nearby locker. Basically whenever I have it on for less than 30 seconds. This isn't a big deal at my middle school and I learned that it was "cool" in about 4th grade. It lasted for a week and then people got bored with how amusing the difference between 1 and 2 straps was.
dumdum71 so you use 1 strap for the long trip and 2 straps for the short one? Shouldn't it be the other way around? I did that at least, when it was a short trip then 1 strap and 2 straps for longer. Now I just use 2 straps because it helps my shoulders (injured rugby player)
I use 1 strap because whenever I use 2 strap it's a struggle to take the backpack off and on due to my awful fine motor skills.
Nobody in my school ever 1 straps anymore. Well some kids trying hard to look cool might, that's about it.
I use 3! No joke. Okay, here is what I mean, At my school, every student is also provided with a small laptop, they are expected to bring it to school everyday and take it back home to charge it. It is even okay for you to play games on it at home, as long as the games are not totally inappropriate. Though the laptop is only meant for educational purposes only. You take it to your classes and type with it to take notes and go to educational websites and classroom tools. And I am supposed to carry it in a case with a strap. So I wear my backpack everyday to school and with the third strap for the case which my computer is in.
It depends on how far I have to walk and how heavy my backpack is. If it's less than a minute of walking, just 1 strap, unless my backpack is unnecessarily heavy.
