Thank you for viewing this thread. I'm here to bring up a discussion, a debate, and some brainstorming on the discussion of Hate. A discussion, on how to handle it and what it is, a debate on if it's even a problem, and brainstorming on the issue of dealing with it. Hate is not new, it's always been around. Perhaps it's just me acting up, but lately I've noticed a lot more hate sloshing around then usual. Hate against scammers, hate against other players, hate against staff even. Discussion. So first off, what's your opinion? Have you noticed a lot of hate lately? What's your opinion on this development? Should staff do something about it? Should we punish haters? But wait you say, they have a good reason to hate. That doesn't matter. I could have a gazillionbillion reasons to hate you, and your ugly purple shirt, but I don't hate you. But wait, scammers are horrible, we don't like them, we don't want them, *hate hate hate*. Currently, the rules (aka. AndrewKM) allow for a lot of second chances on scammers (entirely other topic, please do not bring up). All this hate floating around isn't going hand in hand with that. Most people around don't want second chances they want good hard *pounds palm with fist* cold justice served ASAP. But the rules disagree with hating people off like this. Should the rules not only disagree, but openly deny hate? What are the issues with moderating hate? Is it even possible? Debate. So now were on to debate. What should we do to fix this? How should we punish it? Or do you still disagree, no punishment at all? Give me some reasons hate should stay. Are you on the fence? Hate is bad, but don't outlaw it? Am I just acting silly? Am I just being over dramatic? Or is this an issue in your eyes? And as always, try and debate calmly/rationally. Brainstorming. Now were on to Brainstorming. Give me some ideas to help stop it/keep it under control/handle it.. Think of something to help fix this. Give me a reason why we should allow hate, if your still against it being "outlawed". Thanks for reading everyone. I know some of you (kuke, revan, dork, blah blah) will have a lot to say. I'd like to mention that while I'm attempting to keep an open side here, it is easy to see I'm against all this hate. I hope to present an argument, hear your opinions, and accept any counter-argument. I'd also like to make a note to mods, and anyone else of interest. Any Hate/Flame/Rage/Bad Stuff/Finger Pointing or Calling out Names/Ect I'd like to be deleted. I won't allow any of that stuff on this thread. If you can't debate calmly, logically, and rationally, I'd suggest not reading this thread.
I really don't mind the hate people get as long as it is not excessive or trolly. I don't think that this will change at all, and I think people have a right to know what happened... To a certain extent. On another note, yes I am mad. I am mad bro mad. My imaginary friend ran away and is now missing.
It seems I've wandered out of the suggestion forum and into global discussion where random forum floaters latch onto my thread and totally ignore the main point (jk)
I just read the first paragraph and that was the first thing that popped into my head. Sorry, I just watched Revenge of the Sith the other day so it was pretty fresh in my mind.
Personally I think the number of people hating is going too far now, it just keeps rising. I don't mind if someone scams and gets a second chance, as long as they don't repetitively scam and scam again. I'm not going to hate someone just because they made one mistake, but if they make several and don't show anything in a ways of improving, then yes, I may dislike them but I wouldn't go as far as "hate". Hate is a strong word really.
Jason I thought I remembered (from the "leave of absence" thread) suggesting that you ease up on the forum pedal, and just relax and enjoy your vacation with your family instead? EDIT: I'm not saying you don't have a right to forum post... I'm just saying that a Maine vacation with your family is something to be treasured, a time to cut the cord and really relax. I wish I had that kind of opportunity more often; the ECC forums would be the last thing on my mind, that's all I'm saying.
Exactly what I was thinking when I read this. Hate is going to happen. But, trolling is against server rules. Of course, the way that the original note reads, I think the author might be seeing a bit of trolling and not just expression of hate. Hate is an emotional response, trolling is a negative way of coping with that emotion. Take a deep breath and walk away for a while.
You don't seem to understand the mindset of scammers. It is my experience that a scammer is a bit of a psychopath, I use that term in its very literal psychological meaning. Why you may ask? They have this need to prove that they are smarter than you by tricking you into doing something that you wouldn't otherwise do. They get off on the fact that they tricked someone. They will even boast about it. These are all symptoms of being a psychopath. The sad thing is that a scammer usually only succeeds when they find someone that is naive and that merely hurts the naive person whose kindness and generosity were taken advantage of. And usually that naivete is due to youthful inexperience. And when that happens, it can jade a person permanently. The only difference between how scammers act in ECC and how they act in real life is that the thing lost on ECC is digital with no intrinsic real life value. But, even so, to the person that was scammed, there is some real life value to this digital information that they "own".
Have you read some of the suggestion threads against scammers? I notice a lot of hate. A lot of people wanting to give scammers once chance and then perma ban. Actually I'm back home now. But thanks for the concerns. If you knew me better you would know I'm not the kind of person to "treasure" something like that Sure, I enjoy it, but I'm not the type to get all teary-eyed over it
