I've said something similar about a Prestige-for-5+-years suggestion a while ago, but IMO those points are still valid: No. They have been a forum member for half a decade, which says nothing at all about what they have done. Why should someone who joined ECC in 2014, left for a few years and returned in late 2018 receive a reward while someone who joined in 2016 and has been active for almost every single day doesn't. TL;DR: In my opinion, the forum join date is a terrible metric and should never ever be used for rewards or bonuses. Secondly, let's look at my favorite part: Hard data. This is the most recently created, somewhat active account that would be eligible for the 5 year bonus today. https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/members/20883 Member ID 20883. This is ECC's newest member as of writing this post: https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/members/kaasi7885.139685 Member ID 139685, but the forum statistics count a total of 30233 forum members. While those IDs appear to be sorted by join date, I've noticed large gaps in which IDs don't seem to be associated with a profile (anymore?); maybe they were deleted spam accounts. Either way, going by raw numbers alone, many (if we assume a somewhat even distribution of deleted accounts, we're talking about 1/7 of all forum accounts) players are eligible for that rank. IMO that's too much, even if we do use manual applications. Besides, my TL;DR above stilll stands (which makes my calculations somewhat obsolete, but I like data). EDIT: I did some more research. And I don't like what I'm seeing. According to the Internet Archive, on January 6, 2014, ECC had exactly 19841 members. (Compared to today's 30233, see above.) Assuming there wasn't some kind of mass deletion at a later point, 19841/30233 members - 65.63% of all existing forum accounts - would be eligible, which is... bad. I'm not sure how accurate that data is. It feels wrong, but if you consider that (as far as I've been told) 2012-2013/2014 was an extremely active time for ECC, it might actually make sense. Who knows; I'm just evaluating what I'm seeing.
That’s actually a good point @314 It did come to my attention, that’s why it would be an application process instead of automated. But still, that’s a lot less memebers than I thought there were. I knew that there were around 20k members eligible (since I just hit 5 years a few weeks ago and I’m 19,something). And I thought we were in the lower 10%’s not 60’s. Regardless, this was mostly for cosmetic on the discord and not for anything that would give an advantage, But I still see your points. I wish there was a way to see ingame activity since someone first joined.
Make it 6 year+ and that you need to apply for it so only active, interested users get it and you get a +1 from me.
Since I can't automate this without serious forum->discord automation, I am denying this on the simple basis that it would take far too much time to regulate and continuously apply.
