I figure this is going to be mostly -1, but I am proposing it anyway. If you want to be against this suggestion, actually post a meaningful post and not a one-word, few-word, or "-1." Tell me WHY you are against it. tl;dr Suggestion + Reason + Counter. Other is just more of my personal thoughts. Suggestion: Disallowed and/or lock "Inactivity" threads/treat "Inactivity" threads like "Goodbye" threads (although with a less harsh tone and meaning). Reason: It is "cluttering" General. I counted up to six threads on Page 1, about half way down, and gave up counting more. It only partially relates to "General [EcoCityCraft] Discussion," let alone a real discussion at all (it is a notice/announcement - not a discussion, if you are going to be gone). As well, I personally am not looking for people's inactivity. I am looking for - as the forum area is called - General Discussion. Counter Suggestion/New Idea: Make a rule stating that "Inactivity" threads go into Off-Topic AND/OR stating your inactivity with your profile status (makes the most sense in my honest opinion) AND/OR send a group PM(s) to the people who need to know (the average person would only need to send two PMs for friends). Other: Personally, if I am looking to see if someone is inactive or going to be inactive, I check their profile status(es) and last login date + in-game /seen + my PMs. Spoiler I see many of the inactivity threads to be "false" and a way of getting attention. Not all of them are, but there are some. (I'm not pointing fingers - I haven't even read them recently because I got tired of it in the very recent past.) People sometimes post the threads for attention, and once they get the attention, they decided, "I'm not going to be inactive/partially goodbye anymore." I've seen this for over six years on other forums, too (it is understandable, although mildly irritating).
I agree inactivity notices should be treated like quitting threads. If you want to let people know your are going inactive as I have seen in these threads they tag individuals, then just forum pm them or write a post on their profile. +1
I agree with you Moofink if you are saying the same thing as HCP I will say that I personally do not want to be required to check a persons forum status before I file lwc requests or remove from a town for inactivity - there is enough to do for that now. I believe they should be responsible enough to tell me in a forum pm or mail.
+1/-1 I feel inactivity threads are fine, to an extent. For example: I started a thread because I'm going on vacation, and don't want to individually pm each member who needs to be aware I will be away. However, I don't feel a "I'm going to be gone for 3 months" inactivity thread should be allowed. General Discussion Anything related to the EcoCityCraft server! Off-Topic Talk about anything not related to the EcoCityCraft server.
I have noticed a bit of spamming of these types of posts recently but not enough to have to warrant a change in administrative procedures. If it gets too far out of hand, then maybe this should be looked into, but for now -1
What do you mean by "Inactivity" threads? If you mean like vacation threads, where I say "I'm going to be offline from _ to _, don't remove me from your town. Thank you.", I'm fine with those. When people say "I'm not going to be as active anymore...", those should be disallowed. Forgive me if I misunderstood anything.
+1 Made a sticky topic where people can say they are leaving and tag the people who need to know in there post, That will keep pointless topics away and still tag people when your going on vacation.
I like to think of quitting threads as more of an attention stunt, however "I'm going on vacation" or the like are legit and informative. I honestly don't care, however I would prefer they remain unlocked so they feel like the community also knows where they are.
Sometimes this information may be needed I suggest adding a new sub forum for inactivity threads to keep them organist and easy to find if needed.
+1 People should just have there status adjusted to fit their need. Or, dont bother at all with an "inactivity thread"
I agree, you don't need to let the whole server you're going to be leaving. I noticed many people end up tagging their friends, business partners, mayors, etc. This can be done through mail, or Forum PM. I think this is a great idea, and I'm pretty sure that it'll be added.
+1, I feel as if inactivity threads should be treated as quitting/leaving threads. If you are wanting to let it be known that you are going inactive, this should be done either through forum pm, or ingame mail. The whole server does not necessarily need to know, only your friends, mayors, etc. Good idea, MoofinK.

ya know why i wont agree? because i simply HATE HATE HATE profile posts. I HATE the way the appear when you press your profile! -1, Just deal with it. To be honest i see nothing harmful in these threads. Even goodbye threads. Whats so bad? Just make a separate Inactivity/Aniversary/Goodbye forum here! People have the right to share with the world whats happening if they want to!
I am frightened by the fact that I agree with @stoler202 - on this anyway The only thing I would like to add is that we put all "Fundraisers" or any other type of begging threads in here also - so - Inactivity/Anniversary/Goodbye/Fundraising or Donations Needed forum here!
