Minecraft Username: Unnbearable Brief Description: Was hovering a little above the ground in my town. I went afk for about 10 minutes around 1:40PM server time. When I returned, I was dead on the ground. Instructions: Go AFK, come back 10 minutes later and be dead. How many times did you recreate this?: The one time. I tried flying way up in the air and dropping to see if I would die, nothing happened. Result: Couldn't repeat the occurrence. Expected Result: I should of lived. Evidence: None, other than the fact I lost all of my xp and had to re /own all of my tools in inventory. At least I made it back in time to pick up my eff7.
Without reproduction steps I am unable to assist you. I have searched my logs in depth for this occurrence but can't find much about it. Vague reports like this unfortunately do not do much for our support team. In the future I recommend logging out of Minecraft when you are AFK, or ensuring a more safe environment to AFK in. If you had an owned tool however, feel free to let us know the ID, and perhaps we can use that information to help track down the situation.
It looks like Unn indeed died in their town. From what I can see in the logs. Unn disconnected around 13:28:34, then logged in about 7 minutes later at a height of y = 91 at 13:35:43. Then I see the death event from the tool 3 seconds after login at y=63 at time 13:35:46, which is the same level is right on top of the stone_slab layer in said town. I tested a fall from 91 to 63 myself, it takes me about 1.6 seconds to fall 28 blocks. What it looks like they fell from y = 91 and died at y = 63, which is a 28 block fall and would kill a player without feather falling boots. No logblock in the area to indicated any previously existing builds that may have been destroyed to cause a fall or any block changes that might point to a player-caused death. Logging in/out at y=91 would be indicative that the user had /fly enabled, looks like it may have been an issue with /fly not re-enabling upon login. But I'm not 100% sure. Another possible explanation is someone logged the player in and disabled /fly themselves via space-bar while Unn was away from the computer. @andrewkm
was there a server restart around that time? before I bought fly+ there was some strange issues with fly disabling itself quite often.
I have died whilst afk, getting kicked then relogging in a town. I was not flying but it was odd. It didn't exactly matter to me as I hardly had anything on me.
I really recommend people take better care of super important tools, especially when logging off while holding them. Perhaps store them in a chest, ender chest, etc. @ClarinetPhoenix was it confirmed the tool did in fact vanish?
@andrewkm Unn states they were able to make it back to their death spot and retrieve the tools. Logs also confirm the tool with the ID presented here was picked up and re-owned by them.
