Dealing with wood scarcity in the wilds

Suggestion: I suggest the server automatically pays you a small amount of money everytime you plant a sappling. Maybe even takes an equally small amount of money away from you when you chop down a tree. This should only be active in the wilds.

Reason: The scarcity of wood. As a new player (3rd day or so here) it has annoyed me to no end that it is hilariously difficult to find trees anywhere anymore. Unless you walk for hours and are lucky enough to find a virgin area. Personally I resorted to byuing sapplings and planting them in the wild then waiting for trees to grow in order to harvest wood. BUT, they were griefed immediately after the next day. Probably should do it underground next time. But there, trees will grow much more slowly. Kind of too much to ask for from someone just starting out isnt it? Especially if you compare it to the single player experience : where wood is super easy to get. ALSO, most shops at spawn dont have wood at all probably because of this reason!

My logic is that people are just pigs when in the wild. I had like 10 or 20 trees planted and next day someone had chopped them all and replanted none of them even though i made a sign explaining they shouldnt... this is a small deal for someone well off in the server. But it is for the homeless builders trying to eek out a living. A starting builder has to work like crazy and has WAY too many hardships to deal with. Try testing it out yourself with a new account. Its just way too hard without even wood.

Any Other Information: Maybe there are better ways to deal with tree shortage. In another server there were strict rules about always replanting trees and always chopping them down fully. The method the issue will be tackled is to be discussed! But the issue itself should not be overlooked. It will also help the server increase its playerbase significantly by making it more newb-friendly.

Also, another idea would be to significantly increase the amount of wood the starter kit gives (that should be much easier to implement too)

ok, but when i didnt have a single stick on me and was looking around for any wood, all the shops at the spawn area had 0 stock of wood in their signs. Unless if I dont understand where the actual server shop is and I've been missing it all this time (where is it?)

Actually we do have /sethome, /home, and /spawn commands. I used them from my first day here. I think this has changed in the server without the wiki being updated accordingly. But as I said, the insane thing was when I couldnt even find any shops at spawn that had some. (what I did after was go around towns from the town portals and look for any shops there that had wood or sapplings).

Of course now that I learned a couple things it is easier to deal with wood and its not much of an issue for me personally. But we should look at this from the perspective of first-day players.

 

Maybe I tried a wrong portal. But I went a looong ways and as far as the eye could see there was only ravaged land full of holes (strange terrain i do not know if its done with tnt or something) and greifed house most of which had only doors and chests remaining and the rest of them being completely stripped... I really spent many hours looking for wood! Again where exactly is the server shop?

Might be a good idea then to put a big pixel art around that place saying "shop" for newbies to notice it. But then again, not seeing it is what made me find the player shops through the corresponding portal so it may be better for the economy to leave everything as it is.
