Hello, I have a few concerns regarding the newly released ecc mini-map (The updated one, not the original.) and I would like to see what everyone thinks of them. (And possibly add more.) Multi-Home might be worthless (Assuming you have tp.) Now, you might be asking your self what this has to do with the mini-map, well it is one key feature, way points. I noticed that if you place down a way point you get an option to tp to it, now I don't have tp so I can't test this out, but if anyone has tp and uses this mod, I would very much appreciate it if you would tell me if this works or if it was blocked off when it was released. Pvp and Sg could be ruined (SG even more.) Now, you may be asking your self what this has to do with the mini-map once again, well this one has a teo features that could ruin it. 1. You can see other players. 2. You can see sneaked players. (All you have to do is go down in the mod settings and hit allow under "advanced settings".) Mob Drops (Nope, nothing extra this time.) Now, this assumes you are looking for mobs, but you could just wonder around until you find a mob on your mini map, and if you max out the range, you can get quite a big range. I feel this will make mob drop prices drop and ruin the market. Seeing other players secret rooms. (Assuming you are nearby and both you and the room are underground.) If you are at least semi-close (With in a few chunks.) and under ground, you can see caves, but even more so, you can see rooms. This could allow greefers another way to harm you or others. Not only that, but lets say you own a town (and most people probably do.), now lets say you own a house with a secret vault under your house. This could let a smart greefer get it, look around and/or attempt to look for any unlocked chest or public chests and loot them. After wards they could close up the hole they made getting into your room with the same blocks. Some people might just say that some how there is a hole in the house that they got though, others might say greef happened and want to check for it, but only not to find anything. (Unless they checked the logs on every block, and lets be honest, if you are going though the trouble to make this you are probably going to make it big.) Some final words on the topic I don't know if I am being to paranoid with this so I apologize if I am. Also, if anyone else has any more concerns with the mini-map or wishes to add to these, please feel free to comment below. Thank you for taking the time to look at this, -Legotom001
I believe journeymap has a server-side feature to disable those things. Have you tested these things on ECC?
The original version of Journeymap that was posted on the thread - the 1.8.9 unlimited version - had an added comment that using any of its illegal features is not allowed on ECC. Shortly after I replaced the unlimited link with the link to the 1.8 fairplay version that does not allow the use of these features in multiplayer. There is no real difference between using the unlimited Journeymap's illegal functions and using any other disallowed mod's abilities for the same purpose; both are not allowed on ECC. Concerning the waypoints - I haven't tested them yet, but I assume Journeymap uses /tppos to teleport to the waypoint coordinates - a command that is not available to users. It might be possible to change the /tppos to /tpc via a setting, but that is unable to teleport to a specific Y coordinate and also requires the TP++ feature. TL;DR: Seeing other players or mobs is not possible with the fairplay version and illegal with the unlimited version. Cave mode (i.e, seeing hidden rooms) is disabled in the fairplay version and illegal with the unlimited version. Teleporting to waypoints should either be impossible or require the TP++ feature.
I have not tested it them out, I am/was going purly by what the settings said. And you are saying that the link was changed and the first one that was updated is illegal now? *Hurrys to uninstall the old one*
I recommend to use the fairplay version. The originally posted paragraph about the unlimited version - the one that stated not to use any illegal features - should still apply, although I can't guarantee it. Using the fairplay version is the secure option.
Okay thanks. I am going to uninstall the old one (I removed it from my mods fold after seeing your post.) and install the new one. Thanks again. Also, seance the concerns are now invalid, could you lock this please?
