Ok, Seeing that the /ch v has new regulations, i propose a new chat channel. /ch roast is a channel that is NOT auto joined. Inside of this channel any thing goes. Staff can not use anything in this chat agenst anyone. You can talk about anything you want. This can be joined by staff but expect to be targeted for hate immediately. In this chat you would be agreeing that you would be 18+ due to the NSFW content possibility. Feel free to add in your ideas below Cheers BarbaricBuffalo
-1 It's a very bad idea to have a chat where people can say/post whatever they want. Some things just shouldn't be allowed on a server at all, like NSFW content. Just... use another platform for that. This is a minecraft server, with kids under 18 who might not know what they're joining.
But if we had a secondary platform, would it be immune to ecc law? Would we get banned for calling someone a F***Face or posting a picture of someones face pasted on a naked girl. Or somthing of the sort
IMO a /ch roast should have directed language, no "you have to be 18+ to join" & no porn. If you are banning under-18's from seeing directed language, you probably live in a bubble. For God's sake, at my primary school, I saw someone call a person blocking the road a "dickhead". Just my 2 cents. tl:dr /ch roast should be a /ch vip but w/direct language.
Secondary platform means like skype or something. As in, not ECC. So obviously ECC rules wouldn't apply.
This is an astonishingly awful idea. Allow me to remind you all that ECC was once a jurisprudent server, where the rule of law was enforced and obeyed. Even dissent, which was bountiful, had a space in our old traditions. Hell, a search of my ancient forum history demonstrates the acceptance of the ancient tradition of honorable dissent, even if not formally encouraged. On the forums, I used to publicly challenge the administration with controversial dissent; namely, topics that they did not want discussed. I even went so far as to question the legitimacy, capability, and education of the administration. I now regret some aspects of my former involvement in public life, but the notion that ECC once permitted and recognized the special legal immunity of free expression of dissent is an irrefutable historic fact. Some players may remember the times when I would argue in forum general against the administration, the same administration that used to supervise me while I served the community as a member of staff. When you join ECC, you implicitly agree to follow ALL rules established by the administration, without exception. With civility, honor, and loyalty, stronger than the urge of treacherous rebellion and civil disobedience, one can responsibly challenge the rules enacted by the administration, however they are under no obligation to accept your argument. Socrates chose to be executed rather than violate the laws of Athens, which he had lived in for many years and for many years had the opportunity to immigrate out; in other words, he decided to follow the Athenian rule of Law by living in the city for many years when he could have left at any time. That being said.... if you, dear reader, still have adolescent, idealized visions for what the perfect server should be, then just try that stupidity again. I will be waiting here, as I always have, counting the days until failure 2.0. Back on point: Censorship of chat has always been an area of contention. For years, I supported a redefinition of profanity to make chat less censored. However, there comes a point where censorship is necessary. Recently, I would argue that the decrease in censorship, while welcomed by some players, has driven away people who would otherwise be fantastic, active members of our community. Personally, I lost multiple friends (5 to be exact) due to the state of chat. ECC originally branded itself as a family server, so a large population of old players selected ECC in part due do to the censorship of profane behavior. Now that this policy has been slashed, some of those players no longer choose to enjoy ECC. The current and suggested policy is unwise and doomed to result in nothing less than an unmitigated failure. Whenever you create an avenue for an already volatile social environment to further divide, the less social cohesion you foster. And, it's social cohesion, our friendships and acquaintances, that hold the future of ECC. (I wrote this sleep deprived, please ignore simple mistakes)
Think I actually lost a couple IQ points for trying to read this overcomplicated response to this (simple mistake seemed to be writing this)... -1, we have forum premium, that has lesser rules but has rules nonetheless... Kids are questionable and will join stuff, learn inappropriate things, etc... even as a 19 year old I don't really want to see inappropriate things on minecraft
So In a general consensus, it's a bad idea and we should start a chat room type thing, not on ecc or any way a part of ecc to do that. Now changing the idea of that, who would be interested if I started a no rules chat room in some other exterior point of media?
Don't make a well-written logical argument with supporting qualifications and experience-based knowledge? Yeah, that's ridiculous
