Minecraft Name: @freddyagogo Suggestion: I suggest installing a basic casino and making a server casino, hosted by the server. Reason: I'm sure everyone would like slots, roulette or even blackjack, something to win/lose money. Any Other Information: N/A Link To This Plugin/Is this a custom addition?: 1. Sign Casino: http://mods.curse.com/bukkit-plugins/minecraft/sign-casino 2. AnCasino: http://mods.curse.com/bukkit-plugins/minecraft/ancasino 3. Casino Slots: http://mods.curse.com/bukkit-plugins/minecraft/casino-slots
We already have a lot of user-run casinos and they do well, this would just hurt that market which is bad for the economy imo.
This. It's one or the other. I'm in favour of server-side casinos. (because user-run casinos are oh so prone to scams) But I don't think it's really feasible any more on ECC (considering there are a buttload of casinos)
We would totally ban user-run casinos and implement automated casino from the server. Why a -1? This is a nice idea to me D:
You know what, you're right! Those damn socialists are running our server and taking our hard earned money! It's time take back ECC! We need to get rid of the lottery plugin because it's controlled by the server! Abolish /sell hand as it is infringing on our free market values/rights and hurting the hard working ECCer! We also need to get rid of rules relating to scamming and the economy! It ain't the server's job telling me how to spend my hard earned money or trying to keep me safe! Get rid of ranks/features to and give them out to everyone! It's just another scheme by the damn server to take our hard-earned money! And get rid of /kit starter too! It's just encouraging those damn deadbeats to not work at all and live off the server. Ain't no freeloaders touching my hard-earned money! It's time to get ye big government off my back! Let's start the revolution by abolishing sell hand, kit starter, lottery, ranks, and scamming rules!
Since sarcasm didn't effectively prove my point of why screaming "SOCIALISM!!!" is stupid, I'll just explain in a more literal way. Firstly, let's assume "socialism" is bad (It isn't, and I'll get to that later), does that mean that the lottery plugin is "socialist", thus bad? Or what about /sell hand? Is that "socialist", therefore bad also? Or perhaps enforcement of contracts, after all, it is server involvement, is "socialism", bad as well? Or perhaps /sell hand is "socialist" too because it's a direct intervention in the market. Because all of those are "socialist" in the meaning of direct server intervention in the market, is that bad? No, absolutely not. Server prices stimulate the economy, balance it out and add diversity to it. Lottery takes money out of the economy so people spend less, easing inflation. Enforcement of contracts make sure the server has a robust player-market and players don't feel insecure with making the slightest of agreements with each other. There's nothing inherently wrong with socialism anyway. Socialism is literally just democratically-controlled means of production, which most, if not all, developed countries in the free world have incorporated in some way or form via taxes, government services, regulations and rights for workers/unions - Not full on socialism of course, but we haven't incorporated full on capitalism either. Many of us in the developed world wouldn't know how to live without socialism! Socialism isn't necessarily "bad" like you're implying it is and I personally would argue that it's good, beneficial and necessary for developed countries to maintain healthy living standards for their citizens, protect the environment and ensure everyone has an equal say in the democratic process, as opposed to a facade democracy controlled by a few rich people. Want no socialism? Move to Somalia! I honestly find using ideological titles as so-called "reasoning" against proposed policies very silly anyway. We shouldn't be focusing on what's "communist", "socialist", "capitalist", "free market" or whatever - It's quite silly and gets us nowhere. Instead we should be focusing on what works - And in this suggestion, if a server-run casino is beneficial to the server or not. Provide actual REASONING and don't just say "No that's socialist!" especially when you have no idea what these ideological titles are. So, now that I've cleared up why using "socialism!" against a server feature is silly, what socialism really is and why it isn't really "bad", why not actually provide concrete reasoning and a valid argument against server-run casinos? It would do us a lot of good, and more feedback can't hurt at all. I honestly dislike it when people "-1" a suggestion without valid reasoning and you're literally just doing that by citing a political ideology which isn't really bad.
Well now, everything in moderation. I like my fire stations and roads yes. Socialism can stretch quite a ways further than that though. As for a server casino, well that's not socialism that's just a bad idea.
Well yeah, capitalism, communism or socialism isn't possible at its fullest form and you have issues when you attempt to implement it at its fullest form.
-1 Setting up a casino can be a great way to make money, and we don't want this to be revoked from our players, especially the ones that already have casinos *cough* @matrix_rep *cough
Casinos run by the server are much better though. There's a host of issues when it comes to server-run casinos, whether it's scamming, drama or just issues with the rules itself, whether it comes to a casino with low odds being considered "rigged" or an argument of whether a casino game is a player-run lottery or not.
If casinos get banned, someone will make a beteasy, like a speakeasy and players will just get rich from nowhere. Anyways, this whould hurt the economy.
Are you sure you're 15 or did I read that wrong? Because that was brilliant. -1, If you think this is a free market economy free of any socialist concepts, you're blind, deaf, and dumb. There is nothing inherently wrong with the idea of essentially regulating gambling, I assure you that unless you are living in Somalia that gambling in your country is regulated too. It's just not an idea that I find very interesting or to be a pressing need while we already have a "socialist" gambling feature we all use called the freaking lottery that already exists regulating your money "socialist"ly.
