Well title says it all, this is a little guide I am making to help all farmers to maximize all profit. I would also like to say that I have done a bit of research before writing this so my facts should be correct for the most part. GROWTH TIME (How long it takes to grow)- Potatoes: Approx. 19 minutes Carrots: Approx. 31 minutes Nether Wart: Approx. 27 ( I did testing to get information) Wheat: Approx. 37 minutes Whats obtained (With a fortune 3 tool)- Potatoes: 1-7 Carrots: 1-7 Nether Wart: 2-7 Wheat: 1 wheat and 0-6 seeds Average- Potatoes: 4 Carrots: 4 Nether Wart: 4.5 Wheat: 1 wheat; 3 seeds Whats it's Worth (/worth hand)- Potatoes: Potatoe Value: $0.30 Poisonous Potatoe value: $0.30 Carrots: Carrot Value: $0.30 Nether Wart: Nether wart Value: $0.35 Wheat: Wheat Value: $ 0.60 Wheat Seed Value: $0.15 Math Part- Equation- Potatoes: (# of potatoes-1) value of potatoes = Carrots: (# of carrots-1)value of carrots = Nether Wart: (# of warts-1)value of wart = Wheat: [(# of seeds-1)value of seeds]+[(# of wheat obtained)value of wheat] = Work- Potatoes: (4-1) $0.30 = Carrots: (4-1) $0.30 = Nether Wart: (4.5-1) $0.35 = Wheat: [(3-1) $0.15] + [(1) $0.60] Solved- Potatoes: makes about $0.90 per block Carrots: makes about $.90 per block Nether Wart: makes about $1.23 per block Wheat: makes about $0.90 per block How Much Can You Make (per block)- ***Please help me out by commenting below if you have found a mistake in my math below*** Potatoes: 60/19=3.16 so 3.16x0.90= Makes roughly $2.84 in 1 hour (per block) Carrots: 60/31=1.94 so 1.94x.90= Makes roughly $1.74 in 1 hour (per block) Nether Wart: 60/27=2.22 so 2.22x1.23= Makes roughly $2.73 in 1 hour (per block) Wheat: 60/37=1.62 so 1.62x0.90= Makes roughly $1.46 in 1 hour (per block) Even after looking at how much money you make here still are other things to think about, such as: Potatoes and carrots and wheat all require light and water, which takes up space and can get in the way which can be harmful when u have macros . Nether wart requires to be planted on soul sand, which of course slow you down, unless you have fly... (Hint.. Hint.. Donate for fly to help maximize profit) Nether Wart does not require either light or water, so there is more places to plant. This is also great because it makes using a macro much much easier to program. Looking at the math, If you have fly, I would definately farm nether wart, most profit and you dont have to get slowed down from sand. Better with a macro. But I understand, lots of you guys and girls, including me don't have any macros or have fly, a suggestion would be to farm carrots, (although nether wart may still make you more money) Thanks if you actually read all this and i hope it will help many of you guys deside on what to farm, it took me a long time to write all this but it worth it. If this helps feel free to leave a like or a agree, if not don't. Pancakesplatter signing out! ***Once again, please help me out by commenting below if you have found a mistake in my math below***
Also shouldnt it be -1 not -10. That would also equal 3. I may be wrong though as im getting a little tired
I'm not so sure about the minimum harvest on netherwart with fortune 3 being 5 because the minecraft wiki states that fortune increases the "Maximum Yield" by (fortune levelx1)which means that fortune does NOT necessarily affect the MINIMUM yield. Therefore I would set your number back from 5-7 to 2-7. I will perform many tests to see what the true average is for netherwart but I believe ranging it from 5 to 7 is erroneous.
You are correct, after doing some testing and looking back at the wiki, I realize your correct. I'll go back and redo some math EDIT: everything has been fixed, netherwart still makes the most though
BUMP!! I would love for more people to see this thread. i found this very helpful while making my farm the other day
Well, now that any unfair advantages over players are illegal, this includes macros. Might wanna fix dat.
The thing is is that even without a macro the thread still stands strong in how much money a player could make. Thanks for the input though, I appreciate it. EDIT: macros not being allowed only changes how a player may choose to farm one of these crops.
If I get 10+ likes on this comment I will update this forum, reason I ask for at least 10 likes so that I know whether or not it would be wasting my time to update it.
As of 1.5 potatoes do get a bonus from fortune enchantments. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Potato_farming
And while you are correcting that, maybe you will want to re-correct the carrot yield. I have never received potatoes when farming carrots. But maybe that is just me? EDIT: carrots and potatoes should be the same yield I believe.
Oops, Ive been off of Minecraft for a while to be perfectly honest, fixed Oops, we all make mistakes hehehe
Thanks for the info Pancake! In your opinion though, would it be more worth-while to farm nether wart or pumpkins? I have fly but no macros and a pumpkin axe with fortune on it for some reason.
