So, I still see a lot of people asking in shoutbox why they can't connect to ECC so I made this short tutorial to hopefully help people out. If anyone is confused you can direct them here: http://tinyurl.com/ECCversion. If you cant connect to ECC a likely cause (especially around update time) is that you are running a different version of minecraft than the server. If this is the case you will see something like the error message below: There's no need to worry about this, it isnt a bug and its a really easy fix. What's happening is that you are running a different version of minecraft than the server. This tends to happen when new minecraft versions are released (ex: 1.9 was just released). Your client by default automatically updates and runs the new version of minecraft. However, most servers take a little while to update so they might still be on the old version. Because these two versions are incompatible in order to play on the server you need to tell your minecraft to run a different version. To do this see below. Step 1: Start up the minecraft launcher and select edit profile on the bottom left. This will open your profile editor. From here you can change a bunch of your minecraft settings but to fix the problem we only need to change one thing. Step 2: In the "Version Selection" area click the drop down tab labeled "Use Version." By default this is Use Latest Version. We want to change this to a version supported by the server we want to play on. As we can see in the picture above the server is currently running 1.8 so we need a 1.8 release. I selected 1.8.9 as it is the newest 1.8 release and will be able to connect to the server. Step 3: Hit save profile and then play. You should be good to go. Keep in mind that if you are changing to an older version some of the newer features will be unavailable to you in single player. To regain access to these features in singleplayer simply go back into profile editor and change back to the current minecraft version. If you want you can also make different profiles which run different minecraft versions to make switching even easier. Hoped this helped, RyanBlocks2
