If we can't have mobs in the wild, those of us who have towns should have access to them. no? having them in your town is all well and nice... if you had them when you start! getting mobs in your town walking around randomly is an ok solution, but it doesn't make up for the lack of mobs in the wild. there is an easy solution I think, one that could boost the server dramatically. just put spawners in spawnshops, so mayors with flags can put em down. this would stop me raging. or maybe you could have a "mob hunting" portal with another world, that you could pay to get to. this would calm me down, I don't know about you guys. If anyone else feels this annoyance too, put your name down. maybe if we get enough signatures, maybe the mobs, (sorry, mods) and andrewkm might take notice enough to do something about this. survival is one of the most appealing things in minecraft, and is a great pasttime if you get bored with building. I think that ecocitycraft should take this more into considerration. hoping I don't get kicked for putting this up (cause it's happened already) Demonic 2012
Mob spawning in the wild was disabled to help with server lag and not be a constant drain on server resources. If you let people buy and place spawners, there will undoubtedly be a ton of them bought/placed. This would kind of defeat the purpose of getting rid of wild mob spawning wouldn't it?? The same goes for a separate "mob hunting" world. It will still be on the same server machine so how is that any different than just enabling them in the wild? It's still going to be a drain on server resources.
^ I have several in my town. Most towns should have at least one; you just need to find them. Much as being able to buy spawners would be nice, it just... would cause lots of problems. Considering the mob and animal wipes that happened, it'd be even better for animals, but they'd just generate even more mobs and cause lag.
