i was on ecc, and my game froze right after putting some items in a chest. so i exited the ecc and came back in. when i got back the stuff in the chest was gone and its not in my inventory. thankfully it was just dirt and glowstone, but i still think its an error that needs to be addressed.
Do you have any more specific steps to reproduce this? Did your game freeze, or did the server freeze/crash? Items in chests are saved serverside, so if your client crashed then it should still be in that chest.
