Sounds like the bug is that the vines stay there... as when not attached to anything, they should break off. Interesting find.
No, i think he means you can climb vines hanging from treelimbs. You arent supposed to be able to climb vines hanging in mid air, wich they can do if they have something above to hold on to, unless the occupy a space directly next to another block, ussualy wood but not required.
