How many times did you recreate this bug?: 4/5 times Result: for something that maybe cost 24 levels, I would expect to at least still have a set, instead I have less that one set of xp. It works as Chompin_02 says it does. It does not use 30 levels as 825 orbs, but as whole levels of XP, no matter your current level. For example, if you have 39 levels (1650 xp orbs) and do a 30 level enchant, you will be left with 9 levels (153 orbs). I also tested this in Single Player, works exactly the same way.
It goes on levels not orbs. So if you have 60 levels and enchant a lv. 30 you will have 30 lvls left (or 825 EXP). It doesn't care that the levels are harder to achieve. I learned this the hard way a while ago.
I wish they would change it so it uses the number of exp orbs when enchanting instead of the exp level
