I was mining again as I finally got a good pickaxe after the last bug that I lost a pickaxe to. I was mining some redstone in a rift when I accidentally ran over lava run off. Luckily, adjacent to the lava was water run off so I quickly ran as far into the water runoff as I could. For some reason, even being in the water, I was still on fire and dying. I then died and came back to find that all of my items burned up in lava. I lost an Efficiency IV Unbreaking III Fortune III Pickaxe, Efficiency IV Unbreaking III Fortune III axe, several stacks of redstone, several diamonds, several stacks of lapis lazuli, and numerous amounts of coal, iron, and gold. I would like to be refunded my items as I should not have died from the lava. I was in the public mining area Past the swamp, ocean, and into the grassland. Thanks, 1chunkabunk
so, to consolidate what he just said, water is not putting out fire on the player. sounds like a bug.
This story makes no sense. The fire is put out on both the client and the server, so if the server says you're still on fire then it shouldn't show on the client because you're in water. Also, I can't reproduce this. The only explanation I have is that you were lagging and you were still in the lava and not in the water.
