Thanks for posting this, Mr_Doom_Bringer! Also, when you do /dura with these items held it says the id is "potion" instead of the actual item name which would be "fireextendedpotion" or "health2potion"
No, it's naturally like that, back then when the trade signs worked, its because it's a waterbottle, a variation of a waterbottle.
If these were with potions made a while ago, it is probably because of what happened when the alchemy mcmmo skill was introduced. Old potions made before it was fixed shouldn't work in a trade sign as far as I know. New potions should.
Last time this happened I heard users were creating the signs using the working potions then putting the broken potions into the sign and it kinda converted them into the new working ones.
