I can also confirm that this has happened to me. However, I didn't need to join an sg or anything. I just did /pet toggle to turn the pet off and then /pet toggle to turn it back on and got the error shown.
I just tested several time the /pet toggle command and I can also confirm it does not work. Though I am still able to use /pet show and /pet hide just fine no matter where I go. Also /pet call has no issues for me as well.
