No way to "recreate" it. How many times did you recreate this bug?: I would say I've noticed it a dozen times or more lately. Result: See above. Expected Result: See above. Evidence: Not sure how I would document the absence of an alert. It is the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime. (see Conan Doyle, Arthur: "Silver Blaze," 1892).
I'm not 100% sure on how this works (so forgive my nubbyness if this is wrong/not helpful) but have you ever ignored an alert for a new post in a thread? I have always thought that if you get an alert for a new post (perhaps only after 2 or 3+ ignored posts), don't click on it to read it, then you won't be alerted again until you read that thread. If that makes any sense? haha
Something I'd like to add: When I post a complaint etc, I sometimes don't receive an alert when a mod posts on it/locks it. My default is set to watching all thread I create/post on and it shows the "Watched" symbol next to it. Might be related to this. @Dewsy92 I think not clicking on one alert is enough for it to unsubscribe, but at least for me that's not the case.
@Dewsy92, I did not know that, so that could totally explain some of them -- but this has also been happening with threads I create. It was when it didn't alert me to a couple of completed lwc requests that I really noticed it, and it would never have alerted me previously, so I couldn't have failed to read them. On the other hand, my ignorance of computers is profound. I could be screwing something else up.
I believe right now the new Forum Moderation system we use to keep removal threads private interferes with alerts you get from watching the thread.
That would be the case if you made a thread in the LWC removals section. However I do believe you only get alerts on the most recent un-read post in a thread. It would be pointless for the system to spam you with 10 alerts for 10 replies on the same thread, when it could say "User x replied" and you can view all the rest of the replies. I believe thats how it works currently.
Incidentally, I don't know if anyone is concerned with this one, but I did an lwc removal thread about which I wasn't alerted again. Not a concern, just wanted to update this thread in case someone is tracking it.
