Minecraft Username: Zedoker Brief Description: Essentially whenever I go mining, or even do some clearing or simple block replacements, I always end up glitching because of some invisible block. This pretty much only occurs with eff7's, although when using a eff5 with superbreaker, the same result is achieved when the switch from superbreaker to normal. Instructions: 1. Go mining with an eff7 2. Keep mining, switching directions instead of going straight (doesnt usually occur when going straight) 3. Get glitched How many times did you recreate this bug?: Probably like 100+ times every time I go mining. Result: I get glitched in invisible blocks. Expected Result: Streamless mining. Evidence: I dont have a specific example of this, but its fairly common. If needed I can record a video
If you hold right click and flail around where you expect the invisible block to be, it will generally reappear. Else, relogging is the best option if there is a lot of them. Source: too much trial and error
This has been happening too much to me lately on various computers/internets since the 1.9 update. That has to be it cause it's the only things that's changed for me. I used to only get those glitched blocks after using superbreaker but now they happen randomly as Zedo said. And yeah you can make them reappear with a right click but it's still annoying.
Once we switch back to our other anti-cheat, I am hoping this issue does not persist anymore. We are currently on a temporary one while the one we would like to be on continues it's development/testing phase.
Its a problem with synchronization between server and client, can't really be fixed. I get that problem a lot and not much anyone but Mojang can do about it.
Tp somewhere and then tp back. It will reload the chunk and the block will reappear. Not rly helpful permanently, but a solid quick fix.
I have found that I just need to back up and then walk around the small area affected. I don't believe this glitch is in any way related to the actions of the player or the tool in use. I have had it recur approximately once every few hours when walking along a straight path while farming and while mining with lower level tools. Since it is possible to just walk around the invisible barrier, I am not sure it is worthwhile to address this problem. I have been satisfied with ignoring this glitch myself and assumed it was a problem inherent in Mojang's code as well Chernoknizhnik, however I see above that Andrew previously believed it may be related to the anti-cheat plugin on the server. I am only commenting on this now after seeing your comment from this morning Thorpian, as I had been earlier unaware of this bug report thread.
It doesn't matter if it can be worked around, cause I know it can... But it's still highly annoying especially with an eff 7 and the pace you go it really effects gameplay.
Your experience isn't everyone's though, I'm particularly prone to this error due to what I can only assume is my shoddy internet. I cannot properly mine at all without stopping every 30 or so seconds to try and figure out which block i'm caught on. Particularly annoying when i'm trapped within several xP.
Yes I confess to being fortunate enough to have ideal internet conditions, they are a necessity for myself. After your comments I now understand why this is a more debilitating nuisance for others than myself, even with the work-around solutions suggested prior. This would of course be exponentially more annoying under those conditions. I don't know if this has any relevance to the glitch, however I normally operate at Fly+ speed 10 with eff5 tools.
Concerning Efficiency V + Super Breaker: The Super Breaker mcMMO problem has a dedicated setting in plugins/mcMMO/config.yml. Code: # This should fix blocks being broken client side, but not server-side. # Enable to refresh the chunks around a player at the end of Super Breaker, # Giga Drill Breaker, and Berserk. Resource intensive for larger servers. Refresh_Chunks: false I assume it is disabled, probably due to "Resource intensive for larger servers". Concerning Efficiency VII: The problem itself is caused by the client breaking blocks faster than the server can register. If the internet connection is slow enough, the server and client become out of sync. Normal Minecraft has such a problem with high ping when using an Efficiency V. ECC's use of Efficiency VII and Efficiency X (Efficiency V + Super Breaker) are a lot faster and thus make the problem appear at lower latency values. On a side note: I have experienced about 75% less ghost blocks (and 50% less latency) since the server was moved from Los Angeles to Montreal.
You can actually. I have recreated the problem with a haste beacon and a eff 5 pick on a server. The problem is that the client "sees" a broken block but not the server.
Just an idea for another quick workaround - try holding F3 and tapping "A" when you start wigging out because of an invisible block. This will reload chunks (including invisible blocks) and let you avoid right clicking like a mad(wo)man or having to tp out and back. Not an end-all fix, but should be more convenient then some of the other options. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Again, Hold F3 + tap "A" = chunk reload - invisible blocks (Math for Minecraft 101) Happy mining!
All I needed to reproduce it in vanilla a while ago was a ping of about 500ms. On ECC, 100-200ms suffice due to the increased breaking speed.
