Minecraft Username: 314. Brief Description: A NullPointerException that sometimes occurs when joining ECC or while on the server. Instructions: A. Connect to ECC. Be greeted with a disconnection message of "java.lang.NullPointerException: group". B. Be randomly kicked from ECC with the same message. How many times did you recreate this bug?: Connection: About 10, this started approximately 3 months ago. Disconnection: 6 times within the last two days, never occurred before. Result: Not connecting, or disconnecting. Expected Result: Connecting, or not disconnecting. Evidence:
What IP are you using to connect? If it is ecocitycraft.com, try a different one because that one has been having issues recently
I tend to randomly choose between my saved server list entries. mc.ecocitycraft.com ecocitycraft.com mc.eccgamers.com eccgamers.com So far the bug has happened on the first, second, and third.
It's done this to me probably a few hundred times, all you have to do is reconnect to the server I believe
@314 I'll need more information to investigate this. Perhaps even an EXACT timestamp of when this happened/happens again to maybe look into the logs and see what was up. I've never seen this before so cannot help.
Sorry, I tend to forget exact timestamps when I need to use an external tool instead of the default Minecraft screenshot tool. I managed to find one timestamp of a denied login's screenshot. Saturday, 28. January 2017, 12:19:11 (so about 10-30 seconds earlier, I guess), assuming the server clock is in EST / UTC-5.
Reproduced again today at 15:33:37 EST, but something new happened. For the first time my client logs actually show a stacktrace, it used to say "java.lang.NullPointerException: group" without anything else. Code: [21:33:37] [Server Connector #1/ERROR]: Couldn't connect to server java.lang.NullPointerException: group at io.netty.bootstrap.AbstractBootstrap.group(AbstractBootstrap.java:80) ~[AbstractBootstrap.class:4.0.23.Final] at net.minecraft.network.NetworkManager.func_181124_a(NetworkManager.java:330) ~[er.class:?] at net.minecraft.client.multiplayer.GuiConnecting$1.run(GuiConnecting.java:68) [bgv$1.class:?]
I believe its a Minecraft bug as I've had it happen to me in single player. I don't think there is anything that Jamie or Andrew can do.
Happening approximately once per day. It appears to actually log the stacktrace in about 5% of all cases.
https://gyazo.com/c75f53c1ca850dbd5427dfd6fcecd7aa This seems to happen right when you fire up minecraft it self, start minecraft and intimately go to multiplayer (not letting servers refresh) and hit join and it pops up, mybe this onlyworks for me, I do have over 100 ping to the server, so mybe its my shit computer and net combined.
According to grep most of the recent occurrences weren't logged. Those are the three most recent (saved) stacktraces, all given in CEST (EDT+6). April 15, 10:00:54 PM. March 31, 10:45:32 AM. March 28, 09:04:00 PM.
I see nothing during this time that sticks out... Hmm (Eastern Time) Bungee server pinging Code: 15:59:52 [INFO] [/*.*.*.*:*****] <-> InitialHandler has connected 16:01:16 [INFO] [/*.*.*.*:*****] <-> InitialHandler has connected Server logs Code: 2017-04-15 16:01:18 [INFO] UUID of player 314 is d9d1654b-ce73-46dd-a6e8-fcde92b53926 2017-04-15 16:01:18 [INFO] 314[/*.*.*.*:*****] logged in with entity id ******* at ([legacy]**, **, **) Nothing that stands out. I've also never experienced the issue. Not much I can do .
