Minecraft Username: 314. Brief Description: Gravatar user pictures are not displaying. Instructions: Look at any user avatar. (Fig. 1 shows my profile page because I wanted to list multiple avatars in one screenshot.) Look at a bugged user's profile. (Fig. 2) Note that the picture has been replaced with text. (Hover over it to see the cursor change.) Successfully attempt to drag and drop it. (Fig. 3) Drop it into the URL bar of your browser. Note that it attempts to load something related to Gravatar for every bugged avatar that is treated this way. Wait until the URL is resulting in a timeout, i.e. failing to load the picture. How many times did you recreate this bug?: Every time since today. Result: A missing profile picture. Expected Result: A profile picture. Spoiler: Evidence Spoiler: Fig. 1 Spoiler: Fig. 2 Spoiler: Fig. 3 Spoiler: Fig. 4 Additional information: I have no idea what Gravatar is, but because of Fig. 4 I blame it for this bug.
I believe mine is also a gravatar. As above, is mine working for you? I can see my own and others fine.
To those who mentioned they use gravatar - I can't see the picture on my PC. Tried with different browsers. Same result for all. It seems to be related to the fact that the gravatar web page itself returns a timeout error for me. I know that I hate to say the following sentence on most of my bug reports so far, but... It works fine on my phone.
My windows command line tells me that the signal seems to break off somewhere in europe. I have no idea why my phone can reach the gravatar servers without a problem while in the same network, however.
Problem solved. I did a lot of background checks to find out why the gravatar website was not accessible for me, then became extremely annoyed when I found out that the Github main website was showing exactly the same symptoms. A tracert via the windows command line resulted in immediate termination of the request. Turns out that Google Public DNS doesn't answer some requests. I messed around with my DNS settings and now Github and the Gravatar page are accessible again - which leads to proper displaying of Gravatar images on the forum.
