That's a well-known bug, and as far as I know, there's nothing we can really do about it - It's essentials removing the color codes and herochat handling empty blank messages. Don't post blank messages in public channels though - That's against the rules.
Not a bug. HeroChat strips out colour codes from messages when you do not have permission to have coloured chat.
You could make it so that it doesn't send the message when the message is empty after removing colourcodes and trimming. Still sending the message even though the message is empty sounds like a bug to me. Or an unintended side-effect, rather.
