The issue appears to be related to Magic Pickaxes only, and only impacts Iron/Gold/Diamond and Emerald. Coal/Redstone/Copper etc all work fine. The autopickup on the affected drops works fine on all non-magic pickaxes. @andrewkm full details in forum PM for our developer.

I noticed when mining with a L3 Pickaxe with a Boost II quartz in my inventory that autopickup does work on the quartz, but it doesn't work on the quartz generated by the L3 Pick's double drop chance
