Tired of running Minecraft and other games using Java slow? Diagnostics (do not post below unless there are questions) -Are you operating a 64 bit OS? (32 bit OS will be slower) -Is your computer old? 2+ years (Technology supposedly doubles every 18 months-2 years) -What are the main goals of your computer (Computers good for a bit of math, business apps, may not be able to do CAD) -Is this a laptop/tablet? (Laptops and tablets almost always are slower than desktops, why? Overclocking is out of the question and they will burn you if you want to put it on your lap if you're operating at the same speed as a desktop CPU) -Can you replace parts in your computer? (Chances are no because tech becomes obsolete fast.) -Do you know what is in your computer and the quality of it? (a good CPU and GPU can make all the difference!) Option 1. Set your gameplay modes to minimal settings. Render, sound (maybe), graphics Option 2. Install "Optifine", many tutorials on how to do this are found in this forum/online Option 3. -Experience needed Clean up your PC (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!!!!) -clean up your harddrive back to factory settings or do a clean install on your harddrive (Not recommended if you do not have experience doing this) YOU MAY BLOW UP YOUR PC! Option 4. Do a virus scan and check for viruses. Also, you can try to find programs that use up most of your system that you never use. Hamachi and Cryptocurrency mines can take up a lot of your system! Option 5. -Experience needed Make your computer a dual boot (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW HOW TO LOAD OS AND PARTITION YOUR DRIVE!) Load up windows when you want something nice and load up your linux or other unix OS when you want a little bit faster gaming. Smaller operating systems that are UNIX based are reported to run Java programs faster. -note: Know what a partition is -note: you may blow up your hard drive if you don't know what you're doing -note Don't do this if you don't know what you're doing... please.... Also, set a system restore point in windows. No idea of MAC os can do the same. Option 6. -experience needed plus the $$$ New computer -if your system is 3-4 years old, chances are that processors are 2-3 times better if you look at Moore's law. When buying a new computer, take into account YOUR needs, not some random ad.... CAD, School, Gaming, Business, etc... If you're a small gamer, buy an upper level processor and graphics card. Option 7. -experience needed and $ Consider buying more RAM. If you have a fairly powerful processor, consider buying more RAM. you can buy a decent 4 gig stick of RAM for $30 USD considering you have the available space on yur motherboard. allow MC to use more RAM WARNING! Be sure to electrically ground yourself by tapping the metal chassis or you may blow up your system! (severely damage it) Also consider storing your files in a cheaper SSD. SSDs can run you a lot of money, but can and will load your files MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than your HDD. Solid State Drives have no moving parts so they can load files fast. They are also reported to last 5 times longer than your normal hard drive. If you have an old motherboard with IDE controllers (Ribbon cables) SSDs are not an option. If you have something with ribbon cables, tis probably time for a new computer if yours is slow Anything else, please feel free to share with us below!
PLEASE NOTE THE EXPERIENCE NEEDED SECTION IN ORDER NOT TO BLOW UP YOUR SYSTEM! THESE INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: -ESD -Corrupt harddrive -file loss -death DO NOT DELETE FILES CRUCIAL TO YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM!!!!!!
As I said in this post http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/how-to-reduce-lag-in-minecraft-boost-fps.83813/ I got more ram and a cheap graphics card. It boosted my fps by 50
