Minecraft Name: person13 Suggestion: Adding a rule to the server that forbids players from creating copies of books originally written by other players. Reason: This would keep players from copying books written by other players. A player may spend a good deal of time writing a book, or several, and sell them to players on the server; however, another player could easily obtain one of these books, begin copying it, and then sell several to other players without the permission, or knowing, of the original author, essentially plagiarizing it. Though this would prevent players from taking credit for another's work and gaining money for it, it would not prevent players from selling unsigned copies of such books. However, I believe this can be prevented. Most, if now all, books sold in real life have a message written inside the cover that says something along the lines of "If you have purchased this book without a cover you should be aware that this book is stolen property." This same concept could be applied to novels on the server, meaning that unsigned copies of novels or novels signed by a player who isn't the original author should be considered copied and plagiarized, and that the player who has sold this should be reported. Of course, players should still be able to sell books to others, after they have bought it from an author. When selling books that they have not written, players should include the author's name, in addition to information such as the price and title. Any Other Information: To enforce this, I was thinking that players could apply somewhere on forums to copyright a book, and there could be a thread somewhere with a list of all players who have copyrighted books, as well as each book that they've copyrighted, and a general description of the book so that players simply don't change the title to get around this. Feel free to add any suggestions to this below. Link To This Plugin:
Yes, because although the players are copying the books for the author, the author would still be signing them.
This is a good idea. It also brings to mind how we handle real books being copied in. Will that be allowed or not is the question.
I think it would be ok so long as the credit goes to the original author, and the author's name is stated on the first page of the book.
Can't you make it in a word document, copy it and put it in minecraft? Idk, besides this would be cool cause I already wrote my first short story in ecc. Wiki on written books:http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Book_and_Quill
There's no way to rule over things like this, so there's no point in suggesting a rule. Signing your book is the best you can do. Nobody can duplicate another users signature, so just make sure to sign your books. Unless we're going to hire/promote a full-time staff to make sure every single book isn't a duplicate of another(which mind you is a waste of manpower), theres not even a way to dictate this. I can guarantee it won't happen.
There is no way of enforcing this rule and tbh, why even bother caring about people who take your book? see it as a compliment.
I guess plagiarism is bad and illegal. Unfortunately this isjut a game. And as kuke said Instant happiness feelings.
