Hey ECC! It's RailefBear with another tutorial for the Nether! It has come to my attention that people "set up" blaze spawners by just building a cage around it with a place somewhere to rest if the battle gets too heated. This is NOT what I do when I find a blaze spawner and want to use it. On this tutorial (which unfortunately will be long due to all the pictures) I will show you what I do step by step so you don't have to fight those blazes anymore and increase you exp rewards at the same time! So let's get started!! Note: This model is not completely mine. However, I adjusted it to fit ECC's lack of pistons. The rest of the structure above the glass at the bottom is somebody else's brilliant mind working. Here is the youtube video where I found this if you want to look at it instead of my awesome photographic tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wx766O4tKQ Blaze Farm Tutorial: First I want to show you the final product. 1) Alright then. So the first thing you need is a blaze spawner. The glowstone will be the blaze spawner for this tutorial. You want to surround this blaze spawner with something so you don't break it while working. I use glowstone to surround it because it's harder to break than nether brick: 2) Then you want to block the spawning of Blazes. A blaze spawner spawns in an area of 9x9x3 (3 being the height). So from your blaze spawner you want to go and put 4 blocks to each side and then fill everything until the whole 9x9x3 area is covered. This will avoid blazes from spawning. I'm using diamonds so you can count easier. 3) Next you want to build a frame on this parallelepiped (for younger people: the area you just filled =D ) So, using nether brick (nether bricks because I'm using materials found in the Nether) on each edge you will put a line of n-bricks (see images). You also want to replace the edges on the sides with n-brick as shown. You will end up with this: 4) So we took care of the spawning area. But we want our blaze spawner to keep spawning blazes so we can kill more. For this we need to get the blazes out of the spawning area so the blaze spawner will stop checking on them. For this you will build walls that will be 4 blocks high (check the picture for the diamonds that will help you count. You are basically extending the already existing walls. I left this part open for you to see better what's going on and for me to move easier while building it. 5) Now at the bottom of this. You want to go one block in and start building the funnel that will bring those blazes to you. You want to make the walls 2 block high. Blazes only fly when they are aggressive, while in their passive state they will act like any other mob and won't be able to jump back up if you build a 2-block-high wall. 6) Next, you want to do basically the same thing. One block in, then 2-block-high wall. This will be finishing the funnel: I'm using glass because I like to see what's going on above me. And if i have to move when all the blazes are right above me and won't move from there because i'm there: This is the 2 block high wall at the end seen from below. 7) Remember those nether bricks above the glass? Well, now you'll want to break them so they can let you see. Replace them with glass. Now you can see what's going on above you! 8) Using stone slabs (or any type of slab) put one right below the glass and one on the floor. Like this: 9) Almost done. Now your Blaze farm is almost ready. You can hit those blazes from around this thing without being hit (too much, you'll still get hit sometimes when you make yourself visible through the "doors" and there's a blaze looking at you) 10) Now you want to go back up there, to the very top. You are going to go 1 block inside and put a cap to this blaze farm. Then you will want to get rid of all the stuffing/filling so your blazes can spawn. Make sure you have a way out (I normally use the bottom) because things will get messy! Remember those glowstone you put around the spawner to protect it? They just saved it when getting rid of the filling: Get rid of the glowstone: And your blaze farm is good to go! Go to the bottom. What I do is walk around and hit them. Blazes usually stay above you when they spawn and won't move much from there so you need to move to move them too. As they move, they'll fall. Another thing I do is tease them; I go inside from one of the "doors" and get out of there by the one I have in the front. You'll notice I didn't make 1 door. That's because that's my "resting" place in case I need it (i never do). It also the way in to my blaze farm so I don't want to get hit by one when I just arrived. Also, I block the entrances when I leave, just in case. Was this useful? Let me know by either rating it or commenting. If something wasn't clear just ask me in the comments! If you wanna see it personally ask me for a tp and I'll take you to my town where I built this 2 models. Hope you liked this! RB
What intrigues me is the amount of spare DBlocks you have... Good tutorial though. Might wanna try this someday (because going straight at them and punching them wasn't enough for me)
Thank you RB for sharing this wonderful tutorial. Too bad it takes so much work for something that gets destroyed every few weeks or sooner if the posse finds it.
I actually meant glowstone. But in the tutorial I used glass so you could see the glowstone that was acting as a spawner. I use flowstone because it's harder to break with my eff5 and it will be very bright if I get to it so it will make me stop right away before destroying anything carelessly Thank you! Hope you found it useful and let me know how it works for you! I know it works perfectly for me
I kick my gamma up to 4200 so glowstone wouldn't shock me if it suddenly appears... Anything that is harder to break, right?
I usually stay away from blaze spawners as I don't know how to set up a trap and end up getting almost killed by them xD I will try to replicate this very soon since I could really use some XP hehe Thanks Railef!
Looks great! Only problem, as somebody mentioned already, is grief. Oh, and I would still have to find a spawner. Btw, when did you take those pictures? Yourself as mayor, georgie and konan as presidents and welikeike as mod - seems pretty old. -314 a.k.a. Pi-
@314 I took those picture the same night they were posted so March 13th 2014. The only problem is grief, of course. As it is the Nether. But it also gives you the chance to hide it. What I'd do is place a bunch of Netherrack around it. Blend it in with the landscape. I always try doing that and so far only 1 of my spawners has been found over my ECC lifetime. The people who found it liked so much that we shared it haha Plus you are only using netherracks and nether bricks. Low cost materials so griefing wouldnt be much of an issue. I'd be more worried of someone destroying the spawner, which has more chances of happening if it's not covered.
2 things... 1. True, hiding is a good way. But...there's no /wild in the nether, thus I only found one de-spawnered fortress since I got nether access... ^.^ Also, tried in SP. Before I could block the spawn area I got killed. xD Need to equip better armour then. 2. March 13th? =O Lol, never remembered Ike in blue since I joined in december 2013. But I wasn't very active back then, so I might accidentally remember another mod in red. -314 a.k.a. Pi-
