All I know is there is a "Minewars" event at 2:30PM EST tomorrow. Pretty much they are auctioning storage lockers off and one of them is supposed to have a $15 donation feature in it.
For some reason, your name is very, very familiar . Welcome back! As for the "Events", those are basically server-run things, assuming I interpreted what you're asking correctly. If it's under the "Events" portal at spawn, then yes, it is a server-run kind of thing. Usually a build competition that you build something according to the theme and try to win money. If not, then they're user-run games that our player base puts together. Hope I helped!
