So the number one response to "what causes lag in towns?" seems to be farms. And so we're buying a town to move the Lancaster public farm, to get it out of the main town, and we have a new question: What is the best/most efficient design for a large farm? I have perms to a number of farms (Magic, Valley, Ironview, Azazel basement), and some of the larger ones are less efficient to use because they create awe-inspiring lag. Others have problems with crops not regrowing even with designs that seem more efficient. I've also seen one not opened yet that might be the nicest I've seen. Advice from experienced farm-builders? We will have a virtually empty, not-terribly-level 200x200 snow biome town to work with. @eyesee3 @Inamine @MAJOR_LENNIX
Lag is mostly caused by water dripping, to create efficient farms we cannot create a double layer farm. To stop the dripping of water, create a second layer under the water besides the block holding the water. You may need to spend more money on blocks but the end result is worth it.
