    Username: CactusSS
Reason: Griefing the town of Silver Mills
Counter-Reason: My neighbor, whom I had thought was my ally, took advantage of the fact that I did not know how to lock my chests, and stole most of the items in them. I lost my temper and instead of reporting him I went off in a grief rage and stole them back. I understand the fault in my actions and wish to play on the server once again.
Evidence: I broke the following rule.
    Clause 1 - Griefing
    • Grief is defined as breaking or destroying things that do not belong to you, including breaking and replacing things to get to places that otherwise you shouldn't be going (for example, breaking into someone's house.) This can also extend to building things in areas that do not belong to you.
      • This is not allowed in protected towns under any circumstance, and the owner of a town is welcome to put in a Grief Report and Rollback Request whenever they find grief within their town in order to have it investigated.
    • The only exception to this is in the case that the owner of the town makes griefing allowable within the town. They must inform all residents of such a rule upon the residents joining the town.
    • When a grief report is filed, grief is graded on a sliding scale of minor/moderate/major based on the amount and severity of damage done, and is determined based on staff guidelines by the staff member investigating the situation. It is also determined at that time whether the grief is bad enough to warrant a rollback.
    • Grief in the wild is frowned upon, but allowed. Staff will not take any action in the case of wild grief.
    • Please see Section 7 for rules regarding grief in the Aether, Nether and Mining World.

    Hello @CactusSS

This is not the first time that you have been banned for griefing, and your ban reason is for widespread grief which shows that it was fairly extensive.

Before I handle your appeal, I would like you to try and explain in your own words why you think we have the griefing rules in place that we do. Similarly, you need to convince me that you will not be susceptible to griefing in rage like this again in the future.

Keep unnecessary/pointless/unrelated comments off of ban appeals/complaints especially if you are not involved in the situation. Further incidents of this may result in a forum warning.

    Dear Dewsy92,
I believe the griefing rules are in place in order to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone and to prevent possible forms of harassment and unsportsmanship. Griefing destroys ones hard work, effectively ending their experience, inducing anger, and going against the purpose of the game, which is something that should never occur, this is why the rules exist, to ensure the true ecc experience.

Thank you CactusSS. You are indeed right that griefing is prohibited in order to protect a player's hard work and help guarantee their enjoyment on the Server.

The fact that you griefed having lost your temper is not acceptable, and will not be tolerated on ECC. Not to mention the fact that this is your 2nd ban for griefing. In the future please use the proper methods of reporting users and don't take matters into your own hands. If something angers you to the point of wanting revenge like this again, log off and have a bit of a breather for a while.

I am going to be unbanning you, but with a 12 hour temporary ban. This reflects the seriousness of your actions and I hope gives you time to reflect on ways in which you can better handle getting angry at another user. During this time I would also like you to read all of Server Rules (Found Here) so as to avoid this situation from occurring again in the future.

I expect you to have learnt your lesson regarding griefing following this. Any further infringements of this nature will not be tolerated.

Locked - CactusSS' ban reduced to a 12 hour tempban
