With the new auction system in place, I was wondering how spawn shop renters saw this affecting business. I personally would like to see the selling of Nstars and Exp banned in the auction system because people tend to look around spawn shops for the best deal. I think the auctioning system takes that away from the spawn shops. I would love to hear your comments.
+1 This is totally true, in so many levels, i personally love the adventure of looking for the best deals on nstars and exp and if we sell it in auc it just ruins spawn shops entirely
I don't see how the auction system's recent change affects these markets as you could previously auction these items. I could be wrong however, as I honestly don't track these very closely.
I feel like auctions give more of a real-time indication as to what certain items will go for, and who's in the market for what. I've actually made adjustments to my shop based on what I've seen in auction and I personally think the systems will end up complimenting each other in the long run. Auctions don't take away from the idea of having to go look for a good deal, because in auction you'd have to wait for someone to put up an item that you'd want to buy. If you need something for a building project, or stars for a new tool, you're still going to go to the spawn market first because odds are you're not going to find 1500 stars in auction too particularly often, and maybe not even when you're online. The market is still good for trading between the timezones players, because not everyone is on all the time. Auctions also give a simple solution for players who don't necessarily have the time or assets to run a full-on spawn shop, and by automating them you remove the tools that scammers need to scam. It's hard to scam with a spawn shop but was relatively easy to scam in an auction or for something to go wrong, but now both systems are on equal playing ground and the whole economy has become a lot safer as a result. Overall, I'm happy with the changes to auction, apart from it being slightly spammy, and as a spawn shop owner I welcome the changes and don't feel like they threaten my business even a little.
Exactly what Sky says: I think this has been a positive change for both the auction and spawnshops if items and prices are adjusted. Personally, I rarely auctioned anything at all before as it was way too much effort to market low overhead items. This plug in gives me the option to auction overstocked items at a great price and not have to change my shop prices every time. I also believe that the scamming/ trolling will be less as soon as the buyers learn to beware and the sellers learn that they will be banned for scam/troll auctions.
Skylexia, you make a good point. I think the new auction system is a real improvement and I am glad it was implemented . This is not an attack on the new auction system. It is interesting however that the poll I created is split right down the middle( at the time of me writing this).
