Minecraft Username: zGrubermeister Brief Description: Items not combining but the anvil consumes the exp. Instructions: 1. Try to combine two items 2. Take the combined item out of the anvil and exit it 3. Cry when you see that two items have been returned but the exp is gone How many times did you recreate this bug?: 2 times Result: Items were not combined but the exp was used up Expected Result: For the items to be combined and the exp be used up Evidence: None
Is the exp actually gone, or just disappeared off the bar, use "/exp" or re-log into the server, as when this happened to me it was a glitch where I had the exp, it just didn't display on the bar.
Mhhm, the first few times when I tried to combine an enchanted tool with a book, the exp appeared as it was gone, re-logging seems to fix it. A way to combine the items if you need to is combine a normal bow with the book, and then combine the two bows after that.
This has happened to me a handful of times. While the xp isn't actually consumed (just disappears from the bar, and can later be recovered by placing it in a sign and breaking it), it still hasn't let me do some important combinations, while making me lose time.
There is a solution to this: Whatever you're trying to combine, have 5 more levels than needed, and then try to combine.
While I have done this a couple times succesfully, it also has failed to me. Still, I wouldn't call it the best solution as on high-level combinations (i.e 39 levels), having 5 more levels would require a lot more experience orbs than absolutely needed.
Yes, but it seems this bug is purely combining tools/armor with books, which cost much less xp. For now, this is just a quick fix to help you get along.
Generaljoecool, good call. The experience isn't "gone" it just doesn't show up in the status bar. Relogging helps.
