How to Vote for instant ingame rewards [anchor]HowToVote[/anchor]Voting is an easy as a few clicks to get done. Currently (21 March 2012) there is two options to voting, both give 16 units of Cooked Pork Chops and $250 EcoDollars per day per vote. Open your browser, and visit www.ecocitycraft.com/vote Finding this will allow easy access to the Voting system Click on the Vote 1 option (or visit: Minestatus.net for a direct link) Visiting MineStatus.net presents something like this to the player The text box labelled Minecraft IGN is where you insert your EcoCityCraft Account name. For example, I personally would use the name AnokFero. Below this we have CAPTCHA, if this is your first time seeing one of these, it is a web program designed to prevent other programs from submitting information in an attempt to spam or automate the process. To pass the CAPTCHA you need to enter the letters presented in the image to continue. In this case the letters are edinabe and sandwich, lets enter the wrong letters as sometimes it is impossible to see them. When you enter a incorrect CAPTCHA code you are presented with this error message You can get the CAPTCHA wrong an unlimited number of tries, so keep trying if you fail a lot. My personal record with failures in a row is four! Note: Entering your name incorrectly however cannot be changed - ensure even the UpperCase and LowerCase letters are correct all the time! Lets now go back to the ECC Voting page we opened at the start of this thread and this time click Vote 2. We then open a different web page and are able to again cast a vote. Minecraft-sever-list.com ways of getting votes is slightly different We now need to click on the Vote for this sever button with a nice green colour. Doing so presents us with the following change to the display. We now need to enter our name here Entering your name here is all that needs to happen, then click on Vote. How to Backup and Restore Minecraft [anchor]HowTowBackup[/anchor]I decided to create a Backup and Restoration thread and wanted to keep a nice order to it so edited this post to keep a nice order to the thread. This is my 'over the top' - but oh so good - backup and restoring method. Open where you have your Minecraft Settings folder, easy way to do this is using while holding the Windows Key press R, then typing in the famous %appdata&\.minecraft (yes include the 'extra' details) this doesn't open the normal location, but straight into the .minecraft folder that you have to open anyway. Be good to yourself and your client - Force Update and delete all mods you use (including removing Mods and Resource folder) so that you know everything you do is going to be the right thing and will give you good results. To Force Update: Close out of Minecraft if its open. Launch Minecraft and just before logging in, click on Options and Force Update You will be back and forth a lot and will require be do a few things. Lets start with making a clean backup of this new Forced Updated Minecraft. Open the Bin and using a compression utility (such as WinRAR, WinZip, 7zip) open the minecraft.jar file. Inside delete Meta-INF and close the file. Copy minecraft.jar and paste it inside the Bin folder. Rename the file - by using F2 - and use a naming method that works for you. --mc 1.2.4 000 -name-.jar --mc Backup copy of the minecraft.jar file 1.2.4 The minecraft version 000 There are no mods - ie vanilla minecraft. -name- While I don't use the -name- part with a 000 backup, I have included it here as a place to say the Modification Name. When we install Modifications (Mods) we increase the three digit number by one, so our first mod installed will increase it too 001. Lets pretend the following is a list of mods we will install (in no order): Player API TooManyItems ModLoader CJB Mods Inventory Tweaks CJB and Inventory Tweaks Mods have a dependantancy on other mods. In this case we need to install those dependencies before these. CJB needs Player API and ModLoader, while Inventory Tweaks only needs ModLoader. This means we need to have a list to ensure no errors happen because of mod installation - this is one possible install list. ModLoader TooManyItems Player API Inventory Tweaks CJB Mods. We preform the steps to install them. After each step we copy the minecraft.rar file and rename it for each mod install. That means we now have the following files --mc 1.2.4 000.jar --mc 1.2.4 001 modLoader.jar --mc 1.2.4 002 toomanyitems.jar --mc 1.2.4 003 playerAPI.jar --mc 1.2.4 004 inventorytweaks.jar --mc 1.2.4 005 cjbmod.jar We just finished installing CJB Mods, and we just opened the game and found we get black screened. We have done something wrong so need to look at what it requires, we know that CJB Mod requires both Player API and ModLoader, but ModLoader is also used by Inventory Tweaks which didn't give us an error (Because we played the game after each mod install). Therefore the problem is Player API - something we done caused a issue with the game. We now need to restore the file before Player API and make that our new minecraft.jar file. First delete minecraft.jar, --mc 1.2.4 003 playerAPI.jar, --mc 1.2.4 004 inventorytweaks.jar and --mc 1.2.4 005 cjbmod.jar. Then copy the file --mc 1.2.4 002 toomanyitems.jar and paste it into the bin folder. Rename this file to minecraft.jar and run the game to ensure it works as intended. Install the mods in the list till you get to Player API. When you get to this stage, make sure you read all the details of how to install it. Proceed and test again and you will get these mods installed. Note: This is just an Example of the process you need to make to install, backup and restore and the logic behind each step, while Player API is not like to cause any errors (other than conflicts) it is used because it was the easiest mod that had a dependency to another mod to reinstall.
How to Install CJB Mods [anchor]HowToCJBsMod[/anchor]When installing mods, I tend to Force Update before upgrading mods - even CJBs Mod. Just to make sure any errors that might happen - don't happen to me. When you do get errors, you need to Force Update to fix it. Downloads To make this simple and easy, download everything you need now, then when you are asked to do something you don't have to sit and wait for it to download. As a side note, I have discontinued the Chat Improvement suggestion. What do we need to download ModLoader (1.2.5) Player API (1.2.4) CJBs Mod (1.2.5 - Player API included) mcPatcher (1.2.5) Note: These links do not change when a new version is made, so even if CJBs Mod is version 9.1.2, you will always get the correct version from this link! I suggest downloading to your Desktop or to a location where you have Mods for Minecraft. I also follow a very strict mod install regime, because of this I take steps many people do not do. Your way of installing mods is fine - but this is how I do it and how I suggest you should do it. Is Minecraft open? If Minecraft is open closed out of it, and reopen it. Before loggin into the client click on Options click on Force Update then click Done. All mods, possible conflicts or errors that might happen from a mod install or upgrade have now gone unless there is a real mod conflict in play. ModLoader Open your Minecraft client directory and fine the bin folder, inside this you will find the minecraft.jar file. Using a Compression Utility (such as WinRar or 7zip) open the Jar file and ensure the folder META-INF folder is deleted - leave this open. Open the ModLoader download and select all the files other than the folder called '..' and drag the files to the Minecraft.jar window ensure that you do not have your cursor over a folder when doing this. There are 16 files you need to copy and paste into the Minecraft.jar file. Close and if you like delete the ModLoader file. Because I like to have good Mod Installation practises, I now copy and paste the Minecraft.jar file and rename the copy to something like --mc 1.2.3 001 ModLoader.jar For me this means This is a backup (--) of Minecraft.jar (mc), the minecraft version is 1.2.3 (1.2.3), and modifications installed is 1 (001) and the mod is ModLoader (ModLoader) Now is a good time to load a single player world to ensure it is working. If you have done everything correctly - well done! Player API Just like ModLoader, we need to open Minecraft.jar again and open the Player API download. Copy all the files from the API download into the minecraft.jar file ensuring that the .. folder isn't selected and that our mouse doesn't drop the files into a folder. The files changelog.txt and readme.txt are optional to move to the minecraft.jar file. Again, once this is done you can close and delete the Player API download, and if you are like me, create another backup file. This time I call it --mc 1.2.3 002 PlayerAPI.jar Test and load a single player world and see if it works. Congratulations if this does work, you have done it correctly. CJBs Mod This is more complicated than the above modifications and this is the reason why I have chosen to install it next to last. With so many things to do, you need to have time to sit down and do this. First lets open the CJBs Mod download. Then we need to open the folder Put in 32x32 Texture Pack folder. As a side note, I do not know if you need to put these files in texture packs that are larger than 32, but I do so without any errors. To find your Texture Pack location you can start Minecraft and click on Texture Packs, in the bottom left hand corner is a button to open the Texture Pack location. All the Texture Packs you have installed and saved in the Texture Pack Location need to have the folders copied into all your texture packs - so if you have five texture packs, you need to repeat this process for all texture packs. Open the texture pack jar file, and copy Armor and cjb into all texture packs. That's the first part done - The second part we need to find where the bin folder is that also lists the other directories used by Minecraft (insdie the .minecraft folder) and we now need to copy the files from Put in Minecraft Folder There are two folders - mods and resources to this location. A note here - the mods inside CJBs Mod are now separate and can be removed to disable that feature. This means if you don't want the Xray mod available anywhere (including Single Player mode) don't install that part of the mod. Xray abilities from CJBs mod is disabled by the sever - that is even if you install this mod, and use the Xray ability - it will not activate - thou you will be targeted by the mods for attempts of Xray - in other words - you can install the Xray portion of the mod, but do not use it on ECC as this will see you terminally banned without the ability to come back! Just to repeat myself feel free to install the Xray feature, but do not attempt to use it on the ECC Sever! For those installing the Xray mod you need to open up the Minecraft.jar file again and copy the two files inside the Put in minecraft.jar - FOR XRAY ONLY Can you guess what the Backup file would be called? Make one! Again test the single player world and see if everything is still working. If it is nothing else needs to be done for CJBs Mod. mcPatcher Start and run mcPatcher and apply the patches if you need this to fix any high quality texture issues. Select the options within the program and click on patch. Simple - it even makes it own backup for you - thou I rename it to match my own backup methods.
How to Install CJBs Preview Mod for 1.2.4 [anchor]HowToCJBPreview[/anchor]This will be a quick fire overview of how to do this. If you cannot work something out look at the main install thread Note:Player API and Improved Chat are currently not updated for 1.2.4 (25 March). Improved Chat may also not be updated with the new features of Minecraft vanilla - my own view there! I had to install this mod three times for it to work - ended up needing to delete most of minecrafts data (excluding Screenshots and Saves - ModLoader was the cause. Download the mods ModLoader CJBs Mod Note: These links do not change when a new version is made, so even if CJBs Mod is version 9.1.2, you will always get the correct version from this link! Open minecraft.jar Drag the files from ModLoader into the Jar file you opened with a compression utility. Ensure you do not drop the files into a file inside the Minecraft.jar as this will not work. Make a backup copy if you want. But make sure you test the client. Open minecraft.jar again Open the CJB Preview Download, open the file Put in minecraft.jar - FOR XRAY ONLY and copy the files inside to the minecraft.jar file. Close Minecraft.jar. From /.minecraft/bin go up one folder level to /.minecraft and from the CJB Preview Download copy the files inside Put in Minecraft Folder to the /.minecraft directory - If you haven't deleted the files in this location make sure you over write (replace) the files. For those with Texture Packs, now find the texturepacks directory and for each Texture Pack you have open it and move the files from the CJB Preview download into all your Texture Packs. Repeat as often as necessary. The Preview requires us to take one extra step and install an unofical modification Player API. Open the rar file inside CJBs Preview Download and copy the files to the minecraft.rar file mcPatcher Start and run mcPatcher and apply the patches if you need this to fix any high quality texture issues. Select the options within the program and click on patch. Simple - it even makes it own backup for you - thou I rename it to match my own backup methods. Close everything, test everything and remember - just like EcoCityCraft recently had a "Beta" time where it was restricted access to the sever, CJBs Mod is in beta (or 'preview) of the actual mod to help support players till other mods are ready to be officially released as stable. This means - expect bugs!
