Greetings, this is 314 writing (Oh my, I wouldn't have expected that. *Looks to the left of this post* ) Today I would like to present you an idea I had. With the new mining world that opened today and the Mapwriter mod searching for new challenges, I thought of something interesting... What if we created a map of the mining world at y=11? (This is possible due to the mod's cavemap ability that shows any blocks near a light source.) As you can probably imagine, mining 2500*2500*2 = 12.500.000 blocks is quite a lot of work, even with an eff7. This is why I'd like to include the community as well - many players already mine at y=11, so why not use it for this project? :3 It would be great if you would help in clearing this bottom layer full of ores. I (and hopefully some more people) am/are really curious about what the map would look like since it would basically offer a map of the mining world's lava lake distribution at 11 and of ravines going down to this level since they are often filled with torches placed there while exploring. (I simply put it into General discussion since I thought it didn't really fit Wanted/For sale and it's something general hopefully involving many players (Also, some sections that would have fit are dead, and I need people to know about this thread. ) If we would actually manage to clear y=11 by the end of the month, I would be able to post the full map here. I don't get whats the point of the map if its all cleared out. At first when I was reading this I thought it was for to find ores @314
Basically, it is a map that will show lit up ravines/caves touching y=11, also it will show how lava is spread out on that level. All in all, analysis of various factors.
I always mine at Y:11 with my eff 7 and since I will be mining like a mad man for the next few days...

I'd like to help, also. I don't have an eff7 (just EffIII UnbIII FortuneIII Diamond Pick), but I typically mine at y11, so I'll do my best!
No effVII? No problem. My sons have none either so they just follow me and collect the ores as I strip the rubble out of the way and then we split the funds. Remind me and I will try to find a fortune book and will add that to your Pick. See you in game!
If this works out awesome, which I think it will. You should commission a mapping of rising. It would be good to see where all of the towns are. I'm willing to bet something like that could be put into a google maps type of application, then kept and updated Hmmm..
There is already a rising map in this forum section. But marking all towns is too much work. About the map type app, that should be possible with a JavaScript library I found. Might be worth a try, but that will require lots of work. ._.
*Nods* In the last few days of the month, I will be preparing many stacks of torches to be placed in as many places as possible at y=11. After all we'll need some light for the map. ^_^
