Every day new and new towns continue to spring up as more and more people are becoming mayor and president. As Wolvie pointed out in vent, one of the reasons is that there is nothing else to go for. Not many people want to get the aether ranks and with the nether being down there is no point in getting those either. What he suggested was that there really needs to be more ranks that people can go for and I agree with him. The following two are just a suggestion and comments are welcome. Alternatively these do not have to be the new ranks but I want to stress that there should be a new set of some sort of ranks. Merchant: The merchant would be the beginner tier. They would be able to have additional sales ability other than builders/residents. The tag would show up in the auctions and trade channels. They would also the have the following: The use of web auction The use of trade signs The use of those would be both removed from residents. Salesmen: Salesmen are somewhat similar to mayors. Along with this tag would be some type of mall or super market area near/in spawn. On obtaining salesmen you would be able to either rent or own an area in this mall area where they can put trade signs to sell. This would increase the user to user merchanting that goes into the server. Their tags would also show up in auction and trade channels. As said before these two are only suggestions and comments are encouraged. These are also only developmental and I feel additional features should be added to make sure that they have similar amount of items that would appeal to users. Thanks for reading this! Kolipoki
I agree that this is definitely a good idea. But I disagree with the merchant thing. Res+ shouldn't not be able to make shops, but the amount of things they can sell should be reaaaaaally limited. Thus encouraging them to buy merchant, but not creating an endless cycle of earning money and then using it to buy ranks. I put forth a Soldier (or the like) ranking, where weapons etc. are double damage/durability etc, and they earn a bonus (health, or money), albeit a marginal one, whenever they kill a mob. Just a thought.
Taking away all forms of trading/selling from Residents nearly makes Resident a pointless rank. You would leave them only /sethome and the ability to get Mayor. Nobody would want it... :/ People can even donate for multihomes, so /sethome seems worthless. There's not much more to Residents other than a green name. Merchant / Salesman probably wouldn't be something people want badly enough, especially if their name only changes in /tr and /auc. Besides, if these came into effect and Residents+ lost their trading privs., there would be an uproar. This is also a hard-core economy server, so taking away that much economy until everyone could buy Merchant / Salesman would bring it to a slow or halt for a while. Andrew has been cutting out ranks/tags/groups a lot lately, as well... so I don't see more coming into play. ._. I'm in semi-agreement that I'd like to see more ranks or something for people to go for, but I don't think these types would work very well for our server... At least now that we are so far into the "game" and as popular as we are.
As I said I don't really care too much about what they are so much as something new is added. I tried thinking of something economyish and I thought it would be a good suggestion. Really it just needs some different features added back to resident if it were to go into affect.
