In Game Name: ChefCraft19What part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: All Main ServersShort title for your suggestion: Tax ChangesWhat are you suggesting: Raise taxes and make them more frequent. Current tax rates are as follows: Forum-Bank ERS Cut Brackets: $10,000,000+ = 10% tax $5,000,000+ = 7.5% tax $2,500,000+ = 5% tax $1,000,000+ = 2.5% tax $500,000+ = 1% tax In-Game ERS Cut Brackets: $10,000,000+ = 20% tax $5,000,000+ = 15% tax $2,500,000+ = 10% tax $1,000,000+ = 5% tax $500,000+ = 2% tax Proposed Increases: Forum-Bank ERS Cut Brackets: $10,000,000+ = 20% tax $5,000,000+ = 15% tax $2,500,000+ = 10% tax $1,000,000+ = 5% tax $500,000+ = 2.5% tax In-Game ERS Cut Brackets: $10,000,000+ = 40% tax $5,000,000+ = 30% tax $2,500,000+ = 20% tax $1,000,000+ = 10% tax $500,000+ = 5% tax The current Wiki page states: "ERS collections are taken out at random times throughout the year. Once an ERS cut has occurred you have a GUARENTEED 30-day safety period in which you can be absolutely sure that cuts will not happen. After this 30 day safe period you can bet ERSReserve is coming but you don't know when! It is your responsibility to prepare accordingly!" (https://ecocitycraft.com/forum/wiki/ecocitycraft-revenue-service-records/) This threatens monthly taxes, yet we have only seen them twice in the 10 months since inception, and the taxing was 10 months apart. I'm not saying tax exactly every 30 days, but every month or 2 would provide a consistent stream of money leaving the economy. Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: These changes would help actively fight inflation. Compared to an increase in rank or other one-time purchase prices, these changes would effect every player no matter if they're rich or poor.Other information: Plugin or custom addition: One suggestion per form: I Understand.
Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: These changes would help actively fight inflation. Compared to an increase in rank or other one-time purchase prices, these changes would effect every player no matter if they're rich or poor. I am okay with this idea if the rank fees are lowered to off set some of the increases for newer players so they can rank up. I think ranking up helps newer players feel like they belong and they tend to stay longer if they feel like they belong.
well its like you said urself we havent really had a consistent ERS and the reason we havent had it hit earlier was cause of the date set by andrew months ago although that was cut short out of nowhere he did still give us plenty of time. So maybe this suggestion could be used after we see a more consistent ERS.
Perhaps I should clarify. I'm saying that these taxes changes will have a stronger effect on inflation compared to rank price increases and other one-time purchases. Rank prices and one-time purchases only effect those who have not purchased them yet. Taxes effect all. I'm suggesting tax changes only in this post. I'm happy to discuss changes to rank prices, but doing so here is off-topic, and would require another separate suggestion.
I'd be fine with this personally. I'm pretty sure I had at least a couple mil or so, and I didn't really notice much of a dent when taxes came about.
New players wouldn't be effected by the Tax Man/Woman until they hit 500k, which is easily enough to get all the way up to president. I think an increase in taxes wouldn't be a bad thing, but I think the new numbers/frequency would need to be well thought out and fine tuned to be effective. Having it occur more often could also start effecting some in game prices as well, as people put their money into assets instead of liquid cash. Resident/mayor shouldn't just be free handouts. Their current prices are fine. New users should need to put some type of effort into getting their first rank. Besides, 30k is not all that difficult to get even as a new player. There is usually some type of setup at mining spawn, or a way they can quickly get to the depths of the world to go mining. Sure, they have iron tools you say, but *Most* of us are willing to toss a user a free diamond pick/tool set if they ask. In summary - Tax = good, if it is done correctly. It may take some time to fine tune it, or even base the % removed on the total $$$ in world and forums? (not sure if possible, or if that would be too much more work)
I mean getting taxed 40% ingame... prestige shop owners or just shop owners in general who need funds to supply the players selling and buying would get immediately rawdogged , this would probably end prestige shops
totally agree with this, being taxed at 40% on any sort of regular basis (especially every couple of months) just feels like a total disincentive to play at all. inflation isn't that bad a threat that we need to go making the game nearly unplayable for anyone who actually has money.
How about another idea, just turn magic off for a week, on for a week, off for a week, on for a week, etc.. Most of us playing here remember when magic was literally only turned on for 1 day (24 hours) then we would have to wait 14 days until it was turned on again for 1 day!!! That's right, we had 2 days of magic per month. Then BAM, someone decided unlimited magic was a good idea??? Of course inflation will happen, it's so obvious. I think a better fix to slow down the inflation is to back off magic time.
The problem is that there's basically no incentive to play when magic is off. I've only just now gotten back into the game because the last two or three times I've logged in and given ECC a try it's gone like this -- Me: "So, how do I make money now?" Chat: "You need magic and a magic tool, then $x makes pretty good money" Me: "Oh, so it's not worth it to try without magic?" Chat: "Not really." Me: "When's the next magic day?" Chat: (some time in the future) Me: "Cool". *Logs off*
i like the more taxes but like coow said, 40% is nuts for those who have worked for it, i get that not many people have 10m+, but for those who work well and put in the grind to get shafted, not a fan of. like i said id like taxes to be more frequent but i think there should be different suggestions to combat inflation like, increase the rank prices, which they have, and maybe nerf the amount of money magic tools make, maybe take some effects from the magic tools away etc etc.
