This is what I'm suggesting it be changed to say: As new users, you are wondering how to gather funds easily. Simply collect various items and use the /sell commands (/sell hand or /sell <itemname>), or visit the /market to start selling! Use /worth or /worth <itemname> to see the server's value of an item. Check out /help shopdb to check out what player shops offer for different items! Mine: Go mining, fight hostile mobs, gain xp, and gather resources in our Mining World, /warp mining. Once there, do /wild, /wild land, or /rtp to find a random spot to get started. Trade: Post in the trade channel, /ch tr, to look for items or jobs you can do. Please only post 1 ad every 5 mins! Learn how to trade with other players with /trade help or /help trade. You can also auction items, see /auc help. Farm: Farm all kinds of crops! Fish: Go fishing anywhere there's water, and gain xp! I particularly wanted to change the "Trade" part, as it could be a bit misleading to new players (it currently says "Participate in the /ch trade channel", they might not understand they can only post once every 5 minutes in that channel).Other information: I added color only to emphasize where to bold and such in the text. Not to be nitpicky but I'm totally nitpicky when it comes to /help This is fluff and adds unnecessary length. imho this is too much information for a "simple" explanation of how to make money. Shopdb is a poweruser utility. These are all the same command. These don't seem terribly helpful - if they're going to be included maybe just as a footnote that says you can also earn through farming and fishing.
@Nicit6: Most of what I suggested is basically just a re-wording of what's under /help money, minus a few things I added/took away. - The beginning ("As new users" part) is what's already under /help money as the sort of introduction; I wasn't sure how to change it up so I just left as-is. - I added the part about shopdb as a way to let players know how to find out about the different player shops, and as another way to find out the worth of an item. I really think players should sell items to other players (or at least know it's an option), instead of doing /sell (whatever), because they can almost always gain more money, plus it stimulates the economy. - About /wild, /rtp, etc: True, those are all the same command, but players should know the different commands they can use to teleport to a random location, I think. - The "Farm" part was already there, however I simplified it. Fishing part was added as @TaylorBros22 suggested, and I figured it's a good way to add more information about how the players can obtain xp too (and honestly, I can't tell you how many times I've seen a new player ask where they can fish lol hence why I added the fish anywhere part).
imho I would still just cut it. It's fluff. I agree in theory but /help isn't the place for that. People use /help to find quick answers to questions. Long answers that require further reading are just going to be ignored. If they did different things, sure. They're literally exactly the same though. It's like saying they can use /ch tr, /ch trade, or /channel trade. It wastes space and there's no point. If we're revamping there's no need to take out actual information.
This would actually make /help money unnecessarily long. It is intended to give a few ideas to get them started. It is not intended to be a comprehensive explanation of every single viable money making method on ECC, as many many of them exist. Much of this extra information is also available in other areas of the help files, a user can view all the /help sections via /help list as well. (Which is actually used quite frequently). Or they can ask questions in chat if they need some more information.
