In Game Name: bobman3355What part of EcoCityCraft is this suggestion for: All Main ServersShort title for your suggestion: Make Nether Access FreeWhat are you suggesting: Remove the need to apply on the forums for and pay $20k ECD for the Survivor rank in order to get access to the nether. Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?: Especially after the nether update, lots of new players want to use the nether, but are faced with needing to grind out 20k and apply on the forums before they gain access. While this might not seem difficult, if you are a new player hopping between different servers looking for a new one to join, spending an hour making 20k and then a forum account for something as simple as the nether might turn you away from ECC. Additionally, since resident is a pretty much a must have rank and most new players get this quickly, removing the need to apply for survivor likely wont hurt the creation of new forum accounts and the expansion of ECCs email list.Other information: NonePlugin or custom addition: NoneOne suggestion per form: I Understand.
+1 HUGE +1 from me as this is a very common and important vanilla feature that i personally do not think should be locked behind a pay wall.
Huge +1 20k represents a very insignificant money sink and there is really no reason for access to be restricted
+0 I like that warrior teaches the premise of ECC with economy. Maybe lower it to like 5-10k for the first rank, but I don’t think free nether access is good in the long run
The issue isn't entirely the cost though. There is a time/effort requirement people often face within the first few hours of joining the server before they have any significant time invested and before they have completely formed their opinion of the server. While I don't have any data on player retention stuff and don't want to write a speculative essay on potential sources of player loss relative to the likely retention rate increase of players who also have a forum account.,I would be surprised if the benefits of getting people on the forums for a survivor application outweigh the player losses from people thinking "Wow I need to make a forum account and pay in game money to go to the nether. Thats dumb" and disconnecting.
Well, there is the builder bonus, which would easily be used for nether access if we lower it to 10k. Make it 5k and they have extra money.
You’re overlooking the point, which is that making nether access into an annoying hassle that costs effectively nothing deters players from joining the server. Maybe nether access could be folded into resident, to make the progression system make more sense, but at this point it seems simpler to get rid of the barrier.
1. An economy needs money-sinks and god tools are so cheap now that new players can start making 100k+/h in just a few hours since they first join the server. 2. If they pay some little money to rent a magic tool, they can make 300k+/hour. 3. Nether resources are limited as it is a much smaller world compared to mining and it is only reset once a month. 4. We don't need any more free stuff. -1 3 stacks of iron ores make the money to pay for the nether rank and that doesn't even take the builder bonus into account. How can it deter players from joining the server when it takes so little to achieve it? An economy server should not give out free stuff to attract players
+1 this needs to happen, we need new players to stay around and we should be proactive about finding ways to do this. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen a new player log on and ask if we have the new nether, then spend 30min getting diamond and obsidian, make a portal and ask why they can’t light it: builder: why can’t I light my portal staff: portals don’t work here, try /help nether builder: what is pyro? staff: it lets you light fires and portals builder: how do I get the rank? staff: you can purchase it in /buy builder: wait I have to pay with usd to light a portal? Wtf?? staff(while making 1mil an hour): this is a hardcore economy builder promptly exits server and never comes back. honestly not the first experience anyone should want someone to have on a server. in regards to the money sink concept. LMFAO Yeah we need 20k yeeted, that’s the issue for sure. We absolutely need more free vanilla mechanics What we don’t need is more magic +1 again this needs to be fixed
@NessXXIII You don’t have to pay with usd to get survivor. I’m confused. You don’t need to light a portal to access the Nether once you have the rank. Just need to type in the command /warp nether. Also, the money sink concept is not about this one in particular, but generally economy should be based around spending and earning, not only earning, hence why OP magic tools should stop being released, new ways to sink money should be added and the server should stop giving out stuff for free. For instance, my suggestion would be making the nether more profitable and increasing the price to rank up to Survivor, to make it match at least the earning power that everybody has nowadays.
Tbh its no longer a hard core eco server its pay to win all the way now so +1 for this suggestion gotta give new players something..
Having always done something one way isn't a reason not to change it. The recent nether update also makes using the nether much more desirable for new players than previously. I agree we need money sinks, but new players are not the people we want to be targeting these toward. Less than 50 people a month get survivor. It takes less than $1 mil out of the economy every month. That is literally nothing. People make that in an hour now. Plus, the issue isn't the money or the fact that its easy to make 20k, it is that making any amount of money or even just needing to apply on the forums to access the nether is an unneeded barrier to new players doing what they want to do. Joining a new server and being asked to jump through a bunch of hoops just to access the nether is enough to make some people disconnect. Thank you pointing that out. I was unaware that we were an economy server until I read your comment.
Exactly We need new players to stay And putting the burden of our inflation issues on to new players is actually silly
