Adding Exp to Trade Signs

    I've been trying to found out how to add exp to an existing trade sign without breaking it and rewriting everything but to no avail. Can anyone please tell me if and/or how this can be done?

    You must break the sign to do it, sorry. No other way around it

    How do people put 5000+ items, such as cobble, in a sign then? With a full inventory I think the max is 2240.
