Title is basically the suggestion in itself... Allow all users to add polls to their own already-existing threads.

Far as I know, this is an on-off option or an option with more settings. My guess is that it's permission [group] based, but I do not know what exact system/setup is used.

Only "major" downfall I can see is users changing the poll all of the time, but they can already do that on threads with polls (polls can be edited and reset). Adding random polls to random threads wouldn't cause an issue, as very few people - if anyone - would see. All other forum, server, chat, etc. rules would still apply.

I am suggesting this because I just found out that I cannot add a poll to one of my threads (a town thread), and making a new thread would not only feel spammy, but it would go towards my limit for town threads. Adding a poll to my current thread and posting would be more logical, and not cause any harm. As well, there are other types of threads that would benefit from this; blogs, goals, projects, fundraisers, contests/competitions, etc.

And I apologize if this is already possible... but for me, at least, it is not. I checked some of my threads in various forum sections, and none allowed me to add a poll via the first post of my threads in the full post editor. If only specific sections can add polls to pre-existing threads, then my suggestion is for adding that ability for all sections.

I would agree with this in theory as long as it wasn't abused.
A lot of people make pointless polls and this might exacerbate the problem.
Do staff have the ability to remove a poll from a thread but leave the thread intact and unlocked?

Yes I'm fairly sure they can get rid of a poll and leave the thread up.

If I remember correctly, they can. I saw poll adding/removing options, but never used them (had no need to). Considering they are present - it's a normal post editor - I assume they work, too.

Bump..ing. Hopefully it's fine, as this is suggestions forum (better than making a new thread, imho).

Would like to note, if I haven't already, that I can't even edit current polls on my thread. This is really frustrating. :/
