June 20th, 2015. Only a few days ago W. Quart, formerly known as Lord Quart, leader of the Pivillean Empire , has been overthrown by @314 who had taken over the task as the temporary leader . Today he announced in a press conference that Independent observers stated that out of the four candidates available, two are very likely to receive a majority of the votes. @314, the former leader of Piville before the events that took place last autumn and led to a change in leadership, and Charles Xynth who had served as @314’s successor of these very events in autumn 2014.
June 28th, 2015. ~ Voting results of the first presidential election ~ The candidates of the militant party and the activist movement scored far behind, on the third and fourth place. While this election has been a horrible defeat for the militant PC (Piville Continental) party with only 0.65% of the votes, it has been a triumph for the activist movement ABPE (A Better Pivillean Empire). Observers would have never thought that a simple citizen movement could even reach 1%; estimates were previously standing at 0.6%-0.7%. Charles Xynth, the pivillean leader from autumn 2014 until December 2014, scored less than expected. With only 8.22%, he forms a clear border to the third and fourth place. However, the vast majority of 89.04% of the pivillean citizens have voted for the person who has undoubtedly done the most for Piville so far - @314. The former leader has now become the official president of the Pivillean Empire.
9:22 P.M. – Quart’s bunker. Parisian District, Piville. Quart leaned back in his chair inside a bunker, eighty feet below the surface of the Parisian District in Piville. This had already been his private safe room back in the days when he had been the leader of the P.I., the Pivillean Intelligence. He recalled the good old times when he had been called Sergeant Quart. Back then, he had been able to plan his intrigues against @314 and Xynth and nobody would notice it. Today was one of the few reminiscences of the past months. There he was – sitting in his bunker, pulling the strings in the background and nobody was noticing him. He had been able to sneak into Piville two days ago, only hours before @314 had ordered to reinforce the security measures and guard the borders. Despite his hate against @314, Quart was impressed. @314 had managed to fortify the harbour within two days, constructing multiple heavy turrets against nautical attackers. The outer walls of the town had been secured. Armed guards were patrolling the border in groups of five; strict passport controls were performed at the gates. Columns of binary code travelled across the screens in his bunker. Back in the days of his service for the P.I., he had manipulated large parts of the Pivillean security system, the PSS. The backdoor still existed after all these months; he had never felt the need to use it before. He knew one thing – it was possible to intercept any communication between the PSS servers which allowed him to listen to live transmissions. However, a manipulation would be impossible or the system would find him. Finally, the screens turned black before showing something different – the footage of the PSS surveillance cameras. On one he could spot @314, checking camera number 36. He glanced at the display of the digital clock on one of his many screens. “Four hours until the next system check... four hours to realize my plan.” He rose from his chair and stepped into the elevator. “Now I just need to lure @314 to me...” 9:41 P.M. – Plaza, Piville. @314 was standing on a ladder at the central plaza. Less than two days ago he had changed the security level of Piville from 3 to 7, an incredible rise. However, with Quart running around freely in the Pivillean lands, probably even inside Piville, it was good to take precautions. He closed the cover of the security camera he had been working on. Two out of eight cameras at the plaza seemed to be broken all of a sudden. He suspected a loose cable underground. “Great, it might be necessary to tear up the whole plaza”, he grimly said to himself as his phone rang. He answered it immediately, the display read P.I. “Yes?” The leader of the Pivillean Intelligence answered without greeting. “We located Quart’s phone. Botanical garden.” @314 immediately terminated the call and hastily climbed down the ladder. While running to the Berlin district he called multiple heads of various departments and informed them. 9:58 P.M. – Botanical Garden. Berlin District, Piville. When @314 arrived at the garden, he could already see multiple police squads, military helicopters were lighting the garden from above. He greeted Commander @idkhowtoplay and learned that the area had been sealed off and snipers were guarding the fence. “Quart is in there for a reason. And I need to find out what the reason is”, @314 said and entered the Botanical Garden of Piville. 10:46 P.M. – Greenhouse for tropical plants, Botanical Garden. Berlin District, Piville. It was very hot and humid inside the underground greenhouse. @314 had chosen to search in here while the other squads were checking the outside area and the three remaining underground greenhouses. Suddenly, he spotted something in the dirt. He kneed down and picked it up – it was Quart’s phone. @314 cursed himself – he had taken far too long to realize Quart’s plan. He quickly threw himself to the ground and rolled himself into the thicket of various tropical plants as a machete cut through the air. Now it was obvious what Quart wanted – to get rid of his greatest enemy. He had fallen for Quart’s trap, and now he was probably locked inside this greenhouse – locked in with an armed and angry Quart who had lost his leadership over Piville only recently. He was still lying on the ground when a shadow fell upon him – the shadow of Quart. “Now, now... what have we got here? A defenceless @314.” Quart smiled. “I have waited for this day. You can’t even imagine how long I wanted to experience this day.” Suddenly, the happiness disappeared from his face. “But now that this day has arrived... I feel bored. You fell for my trap far too easily, there was no real challenge. This saddens me – what has happened to my favourite enemy? There is no real challenge with you being trapped in here and without a weapon.” He angrily threw away his machete, @314 could see it getting stuck in a big banana tree. When he turned his eyes back to where Quart had been standing, he saw him disappearing into the thicket. Quart’s voice however could still be heard. “I have changed my plans. Before eliminating you, I want to have some fun.” @314 continued to lie on the ground for another minute, then he walked towards the exit. “What... was... that...”, he said to himself, wondering about the events of the last two minutes. The door was still locked. He continuously knocked on the door until the other squads found him ten minutes later and broke the door open. “It was an interesting experience. I don’t fully understand yet why he did this... but apparently his behaviour is another thing to worry about”, he said to the others as he finished explaining what had happened. “Stay on guard. Quart is up to something and I have no idea to what exactly.” With this being said, he left the others and went to the entrance of the Botanical Garden to discuss the next steps with commander @idkhowtoplay.
4:49 A.M. – 314’s office. Glory Hall, Piville. @314 sat in his office, evaluating tables on the screen of his computer. This data had been seized from Quart’s lair, underground of the Parisian District led by governor @TaylorBros22. “A propos Quart...” he said to himself as he shut down his computer and glanced over two stacks of paper. Reports... reports of a special kind. He began his study of two incidents from the last hours. Both were directly involving him... he looked at the first report. Access rights: Restricted. Not accessible by the public. Time and location: 11:19 P.M. - Bus stop number 41. He continued to read the summary. He remembered this event very well. He had been waiting for the bus A-22 to bring him home when suddenly two bus spotlights had illuminated the scene – however not on the road, but on the pavement, directly headed for the bus shelter. He had managed to jump aside just in time before the bus had destroyed the construction of metal and glass and crashed into the wall of a near building, causing major damages to the building complex. Scientific analysis: The bus had been a decommissioned B-20 model, most likely stolen from the scrap yard. Its steering has been manually connected to a receiver for remote-controlling of the whole vehicle, making a driver obsolete. As well, the E52C engine is replaced with an E71G model, allowing much greater speed and acceleration than the typical engine for this bus type. About four minutes before the crash, the security camera 05427 logged an access violation; however it did not send an alert to the central control station. It is safe to assume that the person steering the bus had also hacked the camera in order to obtain a view of the bus stop and @314. While the bus suffered great damage in the crash, multiple windows in the back were still intact. One of them bears an engraving reading “This friendly greeting of @314 was presented by Quart Productions.” which has set the focus on the Pivillean enemy number one, W. Quart. It was unnecessary to read any further, the remaining pages only listed the caused damages, amounting to a little more than $2,500,000. No casualties. He proceeded to read the second report instead. Access rights: Confidential. Only accessible by security level 8 or higher. Time and location: 02:38 A.M. – Conference room, Glory Hall. This one was a little more dangerous than the bus attack. He skipped the summary and read the analysis. Scientific analysis: @314, president of Piville, had scheduled an emergency meeting for 2 A.M. in the conference room for his general staff to discuss the attack on @314 using a bus only a few hours before (See report XH6A32 for more information). During this meeting, an explosive device detonated one floor above the conference room. Reconstruction of the bomb revealed that its explosive power would have been enough to make the floor give in, causing a whole wing of Glory Hall to collapse. However, since this part of the floor had been reinforced in a renovation four years ago, it ‘merely’ caused the front façade to give in, resulting in a major hole in the northern side of Glory Hall. 39 injuries have been reported, no casualties. Damages are currently being valued around $9,000,000. The composites of the explosive charge match with chemicals found in Quart's base in the Parisian District. The governor of the Parisian District, @TaylorBros22, has informed of this discovery. @314 put the reports aside, rethinking the last few days. Inside the Botanical Garden, Quart had spared @314’s life because he wanted “to have some fun” before. “I think I understand what he meant now... the time has come to actively fight against Quart instead of only defending against him. It is time to finally join the dots... the secret must lie within the beginnings of his intrigues from autumn last year.” He left his office and proceeded towards the archive in the basement - three floors of condensed Pivillean knowledge and protocols. He hoped to find the solution to his questions there...
4:21 A.M. – 314’s office. Glory Hall, Piville. @314 looked at commander @idkhowtoplay on the visitor side of his desk. “I hope you have a good reason to order me here. I haven’t been able to get more than one hour of sleep within the last two days.” “Oh, I do believe I have a good reason. We have a Quart sighting.” @314’s attention immediately focused on @idkhowtoplay’s words. “Tell me more”, he said. “Certainly. Sector 2A, subsector 58. To be exact...”, the commander explained as he led @314 into the control room, “the underground railway entrance, Chora Cross.” He activated one of the screens and started the recording. “Here. At 4:18 A.M., we see this person entering. His face is not visible from here, but...”, he said as he switched to the footage of a different camera, “on this one, we can see his face well. Would you agree that it is Quart?” @314 nodded. Of course it was him. He looked almost as tired as @314 was, but he also looked as determined as always. “Now, there is another interesting part”, @idkhowtoplay continued. “As I said, at 4:18 A.M. he entered the station. However... the next camera is around the corner of the corridor. The problem is... he never appeared there. My question is, how can a person simply disappear?” @314 sat in his armchair, motionless. He tried to remember blueprints of various Pivillean buildings, specifically the architecture of this very railway station. Finally, he remembered the piece of information he was searching for. He typed a few commands into the keyboard and brought up a list. “There”, he said. Code: 16-07-2015 04:20 – DU-CC-2 activated. @idkhowtoplay looked at this single line of information. “Would you mind explaining this to me?” “Surely”, @314 answered. “This is an extract of the Pivillean security log. At 4:20 A.M, DU-CC-2 was opened. The U... stands for the place it leads to – the pivillean underground, the conglomerate of unused railroad tunnels, sewers and the Piian Ruins. I know that Quart must have his base somewhere underground; there are not many other places for him to hide in. We need to bring a few scout squads down there; maybe they can find a trace of him.” @idkhowtoplay nodded and left the control room to prepare the exploration teams, leaving @314 behind.
10:51 P.M. - 314's office. Glory Hall, Piville. Secret. Only accessible by security level 12 or higher. Time and location: 03:29 P.M. – Pivillean railway, halfway between the Piville Plaza and the Tower Bridge stop. London district. Scientific analysis: At 3:29 in the afternoon, the Pivillean Railway train PR-2274 derailed in a tunnel underground in the London district. A first analysis has found that the rail has been manipulated by force, indicating a terroristic act. The current main suspect is W. Quart who was last seen yesterday around 4:20 A.M. when he apparently illegally entered the Pivillean Underground which would grant him access to prohibited areas of the railway system. 61 injuries have been reported, the current amount of registered casualties is currently standing at 374. Collateral damages are currently being valued around $21,000,000, a value which may rise even higher depending on the integrity of the beams supporting the buildings above ground. The derailed train has caused major damage to the tunnel, a complete block of houses has been evacuated since it could sink into the ground should the support beams may give in to the heavy load onto the weakened structure. @314 put the report aside and stared at commander @idkhowtoplay. “We can’t continue like this. In less than one week, Quart has caused collateral damages exceeding thirty million dollars and he is now responsible for hundreds of casualties added to his total count. We need to stop defending... it is time to attack.” He opened a drawer of his desk and took out a few handwritten pages. “This is the plan I have developed. My studies of the takeover last autumn and of Quart’s background have finally paid off – I have found his connection to the Piian civilization. But to execute the plan, I need you.” “I shall do whatever you order”, his commander replied. “Very well. We need to spread rumors in the underworld, rumors of me, @314, planning to salvage a Piian artifact from submerged ruins in the Pivillean Sea. While those information are very vague, Quart will know what that means. This is your main task for now; we need to ensure that Quart finds out about the rumors without making it too obvious. Also, prepare the Unova. I want it to be ready in the morning. Now go, go and fulfill my request. Dismissed.” With a wave of his hand he ordered his commander to leave. @idkhowtoplay closed the door behind himself and @314 stared out of the window, thoroughly planning his next steps. His plan would put his own life at risk… at a big risk.
