Thank you to everyone who donated, anonymously or not! And to all the griefers out there -- gentlemen, I am your King:
GG. ...we should make a fund for all scam victims now; mass scam or not, and just have it in reserve for scams in which the scammer doesn't come back... If we can raise 5.2mil in 48 hours, scamming shouldn't even be a problem, and if you don't count the town and such, you still have at least 3mil+
True, but it's doubtful people would donate in these large amounts again, hard to be this generous time after time I'm sure everyone here will donate for other causes that benefit the server as much as this did, but maybe not in the hundred thousand/million figures
Something like you're suggestion was already suggested... http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-help-pay-back-scammed-players.113246/ But clou was told this server doesn't support that suggestion. What I don't understand is why the higher ups are so against putting any kind of lotto taxes (raised to 20% or not) into a fund for scam victims, but yet hand over the lotto taxes for this 1 case. ' Well at the end of the day these people were helped and I love that. This is a great addition here and it really shows the togetherness of our community. Thanks to every single person who contributed!
ECC is the place to be everyone! We did good. [Edit: I am going to start the JMichael Scam Foundation as an official way to help scam victims, in honor of JMichael's amazingness right here! btw, where on the forums should that be placed?...]
I edited it as I think that more for bugs and support with ECC stuff. It could also fit in the economy one I suppose, so take your pick.
One last footnote to the whole drama. Once staff smote the two thieves, and we had all the money back, I was able to reimburse @Ladyvamptress for the two features she bought @IzTheWizKid after the scam. And that left a little left over. And @Exilenela was somehow left off the victims list I was working from, which was confirmed by @JamieSinn. So, I think everyone who donated would agree this was appropriate: I know they're a little spread out, but aside from a few thousand for shouts once I started repayments, anyone who wants to research where the WIllclo Fund money went will be able to see the evidence. Cheers!
It's a shame what becomes of people when they here of large amounts of money... Especially when they begin stealing charity money...
