Hello, I own one of the largest wheat farms on the server and it is the best possible system designed. I will be showing here how to make a proper wheat farm and thus how to farm it properly First of all, fun fact about water is it spread all 4 directions 4 blocks. This means a single drop of water can water. What does this mean? It means a single drop of water can water 80 blocks. There is no need to make lines of water. It is a waste of space that could have wheat on it. So what does it mean that it can water 80 blocks? It means you only need a water placement once every 9 blocks. As shown below. Now Onto Tools. If you are making a farm even half as large as the one I own (200x200, 2 floors) then you need this: An Unbreaking 3 hoe is priceless. Yes, you can enchant one using a enchanted book. PS: You can only enchant a hoe with unbreaking as far as I know. Secondly, the best tool for harvesting is this: Why? Well, it doesn't HAVE to be unbreaking but it doesn't hurt I suppose. However, if you want to make a lot of money off of wheat a Fort 3 is the best plan. It does NOT multiply the amount of wheat you get. It DOES multiply the amount of seeds you get. Seeds are currently $.10 a piece. You can make up to $.40 extra per wheat. Any other questions please post it below. If you'd like to see the farm I use, feel free to PM me in game.
Is it more efficient to use all 80 squares of farmland in a 9x9, or is it better to plant 44 of the 80 alternating rows to increase growth speed of the wheat, or is that only a better solution if you don't have a lot of space/levels of the farm?
I"m wondering that also, and what is her mcmmo herb stat. I didn't realized that fortune worked on wheat, so I have to go back and check my numbers. And don't forget poeple with the fly perk, they can adjust there run speed, which would reduce the time it takes to harvest. Any one willing to share there data on harvesting wheat buy hand with a high mcmmo, fortune, /speed 5 ?
Revan, could you test out how much money you make per hour planting/farming and not using fly? I would like to make one if you make more then 12k+/hr
No wheat takes twice as long as carrots but carrots aren't worth as much but you can get 3-5 carrots from one block
hopefully not considered a necro but i found this on reddit today http://imgur.com/a/deaFv for those where water placements come at a premium, it better utilizes the full extent of the water flowing down.
I am probably terribly biased on this issue actually. I absolutely detest pumpkin farming. More often the not I accidentally hit the stems or something, so for me Wheat is the way to go. In actuality I would say Wheat is technically more profitable considering you can plant more wheat in the same space and you make at least $1.25 per piece sometimes more due to seeds. Revanrose6
I would ask what the most efficient form of movement would be on a farm like that, but you have fly soooo... Could you still test that? It would be fairly beneficial to know for someone restricted to the ground like me. Also what's your best method of getting wheat to grow back the fastest?
