Below are all the kits we currently offer for SG. My proposed changes will be bolded and underlined for each kit. Also, I'll have a statement below each kit as to what could be changed to balance kits and the reasons behind it. CompleteControl: 1 Punch I Power I Flame I Unbreaking I bow 1 Sharpness I Knockback I Unbreaking I Fire Aspect I wooden sword Kit is fine currently ElementalPunch: 1 Fire Aspect II wooden sword 1 Flame II bow 1 Knockback II Stone Sword 1 Punch II Bow Kit is fine currently StayAndFight: 1 Unbreaking III Stone Sword 1 Unbreaking III Bow 1 Infinity I Bow Kit is fine Currently MakeItQuick: 1 Sharpness II Knockback I Stone Sword 1 Power III Bow Nerf Sharpness 2 to Sharpness 1 (It will be slightly more powerful than an iron sword, but diamond will become the strongest sword, as it should be due to the rareness of it. This gives no kitters a small chance of obtaining an item better than this, while still giving miq users an instant OP sword.) PerfectFit: 1 Respiration III Unbreaking II Leather cap 1 Thorns III Unbreaking II Leather Tunic 1 Protection II Leather Pants 1 Feather Falling III Unbreaking III Leater Boots Kit is fine currently ElementalAwareness: 1 Blast Protection IV Leather Cap 1 Projectile Protection IV Leather Tunic 1 Fire Protection IV Leather Pants 1 Thorns I Iron Boots 1 Feather Falling IV Unbreaking II Depth Strider II Gold boots Nerf Depth Strider 2 to Depth Strider 1 (It will still make the kit user faster than a normal player in water, but it won't make them as fast as they currently are.) Scavenger: 2 Flint And Steels 32 Arrows 2 Mushroom stews 32 Snowballs 3 Milk buckets 1 Fishing Rod Kit is fine currently Hunter: 1 Compass Kit is fine currently Adventure: 6 Cooked Chicken 6 Cooked Beef 6 Grilled Pork 6 Pumpkin Pie Kit is fine currently Spy: 1 Potion of Nightvision 1 Potion of Invisibility (3 minutes) Nerf Length of Potion of Invisibility from 3 minutes to 1.5 minutes (For a cheap kit players get to be invisible for a long amount of time. They can last until deathmatch while hiding invis if they'd like. By changing spy to 1.5 mins these players have to use their spy more strategically.) Grenadier: 2 Splash potions of poison 2 Splash potions of harming 2 Splash potions of slowness 2 Splash potions of weakness Kit is fine currently Buffer: 2 Splash Potions of Regeneration II 2 Splash Potions of Healing II 1 Potion of Strength (90 seconds) 1 Potion of Swiftness II Nerf Potion of Swiftness from Swiftness 2 to Swiftness 1 (Nothing can really be done about the other items without destroying the purpose of the kit. I suggest a slight nerf to the speed so that buffer users can't effortlessly run around the map and kill non-kitters quickly.
You'd have to change the way sg points work to compensate for these changes, it's unfair someone got to get 1 million sg points using a speed 2 potion and now everybody else has to do it with a speed 1.
I very much disagree with the spy nerf. I payed $45 to be invis long enough to kill mabe 1 player(if it was nerfed). Also, if a non kit player has armour on they have the advantage. So IMO -1
Personally, I'd be good with all of these changes, but... Every single time kit-related suggestions are offered, there's always some financial complication in the way, or the players themselves disapprove. I know for sure that this is the kind of suggestion that miq/spy/buffer-every-game users won't like. One of these reasons always results in the thread being locked by administration or forgotten. However, I do like this one because as far as I can tell, we're not nerfing any kits entirely, preventing financial oddities (unless something else that's weird is preventing this, idk). It'll do a bit of what needs to be done in the almost-broken SG, and I, for one, would be more willing to enter into the cauldron of SG more often. Let's look at some downsides though. Kit users are going to complain (looks like they already have), but in my opinion, whatever. Andrew has said many times - and I agree - you don't have to stay on ECC if you don't like it; no one is forcing you. If this suggestion does manage to get implemented, then so long, you 50 or so kit users who will quit. You're perfectly allowed to. In the long run, it'll save plenty of builders to make up for it, who otherwise would've been ticked off about the sharp II miq sword or the 3:00 invisibility potion in spy. Anyway, I'm also not sure about any potential problems with money, so I'd have to hear from Phys or Andrew here. Though the odds are slim that this will be implemented, like the many other suggestions similar to this, +1.
I wouldn't be fine with miq change at all. If you nerf miq to sharp 1, I'd much rather use cc, which is much cheaper. Basically, the fire on cc would make it almost as good, perhaps better, than a sharp1 miq.
CC is currently already comparable to MIQ. If MIQ were to get nerfed, then CC should as well. And the best ways to nerf/balance them is by removing the bows and making strings more common in chests. The swords are fine, the bows make them truly OP
I get what you mean. If someone has a bow, then the other person with only a sword has no chance at all, given that the person with a bow is somewhat accurate. Bow's are such a large part of kits though, removing a bow is removing 50% of the kit.
Yes, I agree. But I'm not sure the community does. Remember when someone suggested bfr to be nerfed? People stated things such as: "I paid 30 usd for that kit, why should it be nerfed". Do you think people are gonna be willing to just let half of a 25 dollar kit be taken away, so they have to spend another 15 for a different kit that is much weaker? I agree that this would help balance sg more, but at this point, I doubt sg can actually be balanced; ever.
People would complain that much even when you adjust make a potion last 5 seconds less. (hyperbole) It's the whole mindset of the current SG. "We paid for this so we should be farming builders with ease" SG can easily be balanced. But it's a problem whether you should prioritize the donators over the non-donators. (although, IMO, the donators can suck it if it means more players playing, which in the end means more donators. But it's sadly not that simple.)
