As many of you know the 1.6 pre-release has come out and the official release is right around the corner. You may have also heard there is a new launcher available at mojang's website. I was flipping through the new launchers features and I stumbled along a feature that I think would be very helpful to the ECC community. In the development console it records all the chat from the server and pm's along with any lock messages. Basically it shows what you see in your chat on the console. You may be asking why this is any different or any better than just taking screenshots from in game. The reason it is a lot better is it records them way longer than the chat box holds them. I was looking at the console and it recorded the messages from when I logged on to when I logged off. (a span of 20 minutes). This is compared to the average time the chat box holds messages which is sometimes under 2 minutes depending on speed of chat. If mods accept these screen shots I think this would be a tremendous help to the ECC community and would increase the percentage of scams fixed. To get to the development console keep the launcher open while playing the game and when you exit the game look at the launcher. On the top tabs you will see the development console. By clicking that you will be able to see what you saw in your in-game chat box. I will be doing more experimenting to see exactly its capabilities *EDIT: this is a picture of the console http://imgur.com/MNNwPlp *
I have a mod that already does this, it can be done with Tabbychat or the Macro Mod, and anyways you can only use Minecraft Ingame screenshots as evidence.
the screenshot you posted is just a bunch of text. That's a lot easier to fake than an in-game screenshot.
Go into a text editting program, copy the console, edit the parts you want to change. Use the same font as the console.
I know what you mean. Yes it is possible, but it's MUCH harder. I'm using Paint at the moment to make WeWinAgain accept my proposal. I could show you if you want. But editing a screenshot is way harder than editing text. I also changed SynWannabe 's no into a ok
You can already access these files in normal minecraft. On a PC, go to .minecraft, then to the folder named outputuser or outputserver. The only difference is that it is all smashed together.
You have been able to access the Java console for minecraft, since, well, since minecraft was invented or Java for that matter, you just have to know how. This launcher just gives the the console output a better GUI and I don't imagine it will stay in the launcher once it's officially launched.
just because I'm curious, couldn't you just take a screenshot of your monitor while looking at the part of the dev console you'd like, then it would be just as difficult to fake as a regular screenshot, while still allowing that span of 20 plus minutes of recording.
