are pigmen and gasts supose to spawn?

    When i get within so many blocks of pigmen or gasts they seem to despawn and if i try to shoot them with arrows they dont hit them, my question is are theese mobs supose to spawn and if so why is this happening to me?

    This happens to me too. I think there supposed to be there and to be able to be hit, but umm yea you'r right you can't :/

    Are ghasts even supposed to spawn? I've never seen one in nether...... Hmmm
