noun 1. attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles. 2. discrimination or devaluation based on a person's sex, as in restricted job opportunities; especially, such discrimination directed against women. It can be sexist and it can not be sexist, depending on the person; it's subjective. :b I do and don't see it as sexist. Just a note: This thread is borderline on breaking the rules; it can stay open so long as there aren't huge debates/flaming/etc. I actually find it an interesting question; people just gotta keep things calm. lol why add that the reason i like this is that it comes for fallout new vegas so far the best vault ever http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_34
This is my final, absolute opinion on all things racist or sexist. Personally, i dont want anything racist or sexist to occur, however, i also think that 95% of the time the racism people point out are found by people looking for it. I dont think most people would intentionally do things like this, at least as far as normal suburban america is. There is ofcourse the 5% that is completely intentional. I do not condone any of it, intentional or not, but i believe that if people stop looking for what they dont want to find, all our lives would be simpler. The 5% will glare in your face. The 95% is hiding in the background, sure you may find it, but it will cause you more trouble looking for it than it ever would having not been found. That is all.
In my opinion it isn't sexist, but I also agree with rabidworm and the fact that most people are looking for something wrong. You should take in a picture of a fat girl sitting on an F150 with a beer in her hand and ask her if it is more accurate. It is very innapropriate for a teacher to bring up what is and isn't politically correct because everything can be nitpicked to find something wrong. You could also say the picture is racist because not all american girls are white, or agism can be brought in because she may be too young for some, or too old for others. Brunette girls are actually more common so the fact that the girl is blonde is also incorrect, it also shouldn't be written only in english. Your teacher seems to be the sexist one.
Well it seems that each type of groups (excluding dev owners and builders) dont find it sexist I'm keeping it as my sig
i asked the teacher today why its sexiest since i was not able to yesterday "what SHE said was that the text imply s ownership of women" i looked at her and whent :| and just walked to my next class
That was one of my first thoughts when I saw it. Really, it does give off that impression: An impression of "buying" or owning a girl, who looks to be good at fixing things and probably doing things for you. And the lady used in the image looks way too happy to do your ever command... Doesn't highly bother me, but it's there. :b Only sexist if seen in that way or taken wrongly; some people may have had experiences that tie to that and to them it's sexist and wrong.
The whole thing is just dependent upon the viewpoint of the person that see's it and how they interpret it. I've had some people get all up in arms when I've said "rule of thumb" (not on these forums lol) because they thought it ment the size of the stick you could beat your wife with when in reality it was a unit of measurement before they had standardized rulers. That's why I don't do forums or ingame chat much. Too many misinterpretations.
