I think this will be interesting, because sugarcane is a fast grower and hard to find in the first place, so people would have to protect their farm from raiders and try make as many sugar/sugary things as they can.and this would also have people making automatic farms because sugarcane needs to be harvested quick before it could grow more, and people would have to protect their machines because other people could grab all their produce and profit off them, making this theme a pretty active one, because you would have to grow as much sugar as you can before others do.
Make sugar less valuable because sugar cane farming gets you a LOT. Otherwise, it's a pretty sweet suggestion.
